Venessa barged into Avery’s bedroom as soon as she heard about their arrival. “Avery! You guys didn’t come back last night. What were you up to? Huh?” she said, taking a seat on the bed while swinging her legs like a little kid. Avery, who was dressed in a baggy T-shirt and shorts with her hair tied in a messy bun, buried her face in her thighs, embarrassed to look Venessa in the eyes as she recalled what happened the night before.
