Chapter 21 Humiliation

Morgan had liked Amanda once, but that was in the past. Through conversations with Grace and William, he learned that Amanda had pursued a relationship with a man over a decade her senior, all for money. The Grant family's proposal was conducted quietly without a wedding celebration; instead, they simply paid a bride price to have her move to Matthew's residence. To put it nicely, it was a marriage proposal; to put it harshly, it was selling their daughter. William believed Matthew was merely playing with Amanda's feelings and would discard her once bored.
