IThe stability Erin and Iris had worked the hardest for in Moonbay Pack was about to meet its toughest test yet, for a new threat emerged from within its ranks. Within the pack was an increasing number of those who did not believe in the change and felt left out; the group began to question Erin's leadership potential and Iris's overpowering influence on her decisions. Matters finally boiled over when one of its prominent members—one of the former strong supporters—openly opposed them. It began with acts of petty defiance. Members of his faction began undermining Erin's and Iris's decisions and subtly advancing their cause. At first, there were rumblings of dissent and passive resistance; later, it had become direct action. Thus, Erin and Iris came to an unnerving realization: it wasn't strangers who challenged their leadership but those whom they thought were allies.
