Chapter 11 The Ordinary Or Problem Student

Meanwhile, at a hospital in City N… "So, you're telling me that in just a few minutes, someone took your photo, fingerprints, blood samples, and phone number?" William sat on the hospital bed, looking coldly at Frank. "William, " Frank said, rubbing his nose. "This is City N, and she is just an ordinary girl student. Do you think this is the Death God Training Base? Everyone here is a mercenary or an agent? The fingerprints and blood samples? No, it was just a broken phone screen, an accident." William chuckled softly, his eyes half-lidded. "Too many accidents, and it stops being an accident." An ordinary girl student? An ordinary girl student could help deliver medication for the International Medical Research Institute? Frank shrugged, looking exasperated. "So what do we do now? The people from the Death God Training Base are still after you… Should I look into that girl's identity?" "Yeah, check it out." "Got it." Frank replied, then suddenly remembered something. "William, Mr. Brady came to City N. Do you want to meet him?" William instinctively frowned. "Mr. Brady?" "There's a project at NY University, and they specifically invited Mr. Brady to oversee it. You really should meet him, but with your injury…" "It's fine." William shook his head. "I'll go to NY University tomorrow." ****** At NY University, in the office of the Dean of the Art School. The punks had already been taken away by the police, and Juliet and her friends were standing in the office. The heads of the Performing Arts and Fine Arts departments, along with their instructors, had also arrived. The dean looked at the group of young girls, clearly exasperated. "You're all freshmen, right? You're in college now, so you should be more mature. You pretty girls shouldn't be getting into this kind of trouble." "Do you have any idea what happens when you collude with outsiders to fight? If something goes wrong, it'll end up at the police station, and your studies will be ruined!" "Now tell me, what exactly happened? Who brought those outsiders to the school?" The dean rambled on, and Eileen looked like she was about to cry. Just as she was about to speak, Juliet jumped in. "Dean, it was Eileen who brought outsiders to attack me!" Lillian, "…" Eileen, "…" Moira, "…" Everyone looked at Juliet, their expressions clearly saying—how could you say that? "It's not true!" Eileen's tears spilled over. "Dean, I didn't! Juliet was the one who hit me…" Juliet didn't hold back, "Dean, we were right outside the Fine Arts dorm, and they were the ones who brought the outsiders." Eileen stared at her in disbelief, "You're lying! Juliet, you're lying! You've always bullied me; don't believe her, Dean!" The dean, Mr. Elton, was in his fifties, balding with a beer belly, clearly a man of authority. He looked at Eileen's swollen face and frowned. "What happened to her face?" Among the four girls present, only Eileen was hurt and looked the worst. "I got hit by Juliet!" Eileen shouted. Mr. Elton turned to Juliet. "Did you do this?" Juliet nodded, looking serious. "They had numbers on their side; I was just defending myself." Mr. Elton raised an eyebrow. "Defending yourself by giving her a swollen face?" Eileen's cheeks had clear handprints, not exactly what you'd call self-defense. At that moment, the head of the Performing Arts department spoke up. "Mr. Elton, this is Eileen from our department. She got in with the top score in the acting entrance exam and has excellent grades; she's not someone who gets into fights." Juliet raised an eyebrow. "Sir, look at me. Do I seem like someone who would get into a fight? You didn't see it with your own eyes, so how can you turn things upside down?" As soon as she finished, the head of the Performing Arts department's face turned red with anger. "Are you saying I'm slandering you?" "Sorry, but that's exactly what I mean." "You!" The head of the Performing Arts department said coldly, "You've beaten Eileen up like this and are still trying to argue! Dean, I demand strict action against this problem student!" The Fine Arts department head naturally defended his students. "Director Jack, the facts aren't clear yet. Isn't it a bit early to say that?" "Director Marvin, look at these two students from your Fine Arts department; it's clear there's an issue. Now that Eileen is seriously injured, you can't just favor them because they're your students!" Juliet spoke up right away, "All my injuries are internal. I'm asking to go to the hospital for an examination and to keep evidence so I can sue Eileen and her friend here. Right, Lillian?" Lillian put on a blank face but went along, pretending to rub her forehead. "My head's spinning." Moira couldn't hold back anymore, "Juliet, how shameless can you get? They didn't even touch you!" "You two brought them here. So whatever you say goes?" "Enough!" Mr. Elton slammed his desk, looking over each of them. "You're all acting lively and speaking up just fine, so we'll let it go this time. But each of you will write a 1,000-word reflection and read it in front of everyone at the freshman assembly tomorrow. Now get out!" The last thing he wanted was for news about university students fighting with outsiders to spread. That would damage the whole reputation of NY University. Looking at the group in front of him, all freshmen, and all girls, the dean figured the best option was to let this one slide. "But, Dean..." Eileen looked like she wanted to say more, but a cold glance from Juliet shut her up. She was terrified Juliet might reveal their family's inheritance issues. The group filed out of the dean's office. Juliet slowed her pace, walking alongside Eileen. "Well, are you happy now, my dear sister?" Juliet asked, with a hint of mockery. "What...what do you want?" Eileen's lips turned pale as she trembled, looking at Juliet like she was seeing a ghost. Juliet was her worst nightmare. She honestly didn't know what it would take to get rid of her completely. Juliet smirked. "Don't forget, there are still seventy-one slaps left." Eileen staggered, nearly falling. The drama department head noticed the commotion and came over, glaring at Juliet. "What are you doing now?" This girl Juliet, he could just tell, was trouble—sharp-tongued and unruly, she gave off such a bad impression. Juliet responded with an innocent look. "Oh, nothing. Eileen just apologized to me, and I accepted. That's all." Everyone's gaze was fixed on Juliet. Both Lillian and Moira were stunned at Juliet's ability to lie with a straight face. The art department head stepped forward, waving them off. "Alright, if it's settled, go back and remember to write those reflections." "Got it!" Juliet replied with a bright smile. Back in the dorm, Bess and Dora had been waiting, and they sighed in relief when they saw Juliet and Lillian unharmed. "You scared us! We heard some outsiders came to campus... Thank goodness you're okay." Lillian's mouth twitched as she calmly replied, "Someone else wasn't so lucky." Juliet could fight, argue, put on an act, and play the fool—all in one. Honestly, if she didn't go into acting, it'd be a waste of talent. "Oh..." Bess and Dora gasped. Lillian couldn't help but ask, "Juliet, what exactly did you do before this?" Juliet blinked innocently. "I was...well, abroad. The atmosphere at my last school wasn't that great." The Death God International Mercenary Training Base counted as a "school," right? Lillian was speechless. She really couldn't imagine what kind of school would produce someone like Juliet. "Forget it," Lillian sighed. "Let's just get these reflections written. One thousand words, and we have to read them at the freshman assembly tomorrow." Bess's eyes widened in disbelief. "You guys have to write reflections and read them at the assembly? We're in college now; how is this even happening?" "Who knows?" Lillian huffed, annoyed. Just thinking about those one thousand words made her feel like Juliet went too easy on Eileen. She should've given her a real beating. Dora piped up from the side, "By the way, Bess and I picked up your military training uniforms. They're on your desk." "Thanks, Dora and Bess!" Juliet also thanked them, then sat down next to them, bored and staring at her phone. Just as a message popped up, a call interrupted her. Seeing the name on the screen, Juliet's expression darkened as she hit the reject button. But the call came through again almost immediately. With a hint of impatience, she answered, "What's up?"
