Chapter 5 I Have To Leave

ADRIANNA My world felt like it could collapse at any moment. My palms felt dry, but also felt sweaty. My body became hot, my ears red and eyes started to become watery. The words from Raymond, still ringing in my ears. I looked at him in disbelief, searching through his eyes for a lie. I wanted him to tell me at that moment, that he was lying and this man standing right here, this supposed stranger was not his brother. But it never came, it never came out from his mouth. “What do you mean your elder brother?” I finally said, after standing there in shock for a few minutes. I looked around, Raymond and Jasmine, were looking at me so confused. I did not even care at that moment how they looked at me, I just wanted to understand what was happening. “Yes Adrianna, he is my elder brother I told you about, that stays overseas and I rarely ever get to see him because he is always busy and working for our company, as the CEO”. he replied to me, looking at me weirdly. “What is the matter? Why do you seem so tense?” he added as he walked over to me. I moved back instantly, my motion swift with speed. Even if I was so confused at the moment, I can never forget what happened last night and what he did to me. I turned over to the man that was called Ethan, Raymond’s brother. He stood there with the plate of food still in his hand. I could not quite understand his expression. I could not figure out what he had in his mind, what he was thinking. But what I knew was that he knew the reason I was this tense. Tears were the words my heart couldn’t speak, as they began to flow down my eyes. I couldn’t bear to stand there any longer, I just wanted to leave, to vanish, to never be seen. I had made a grave mistake and now I just wanted to face it. I ran upstairs to my room, ignoring the calls I got from Raymond and Jasmine. They were calling my name, asking me what was wrong, but I had no reason to answer them, I didn’t even want to. The sound of my slippers clicking with the stairs, could be heard loudly as I ran straight to my room with tears. I entered my room, and slammed the door shut, immediately collapsing to the floor. I did not know where to start from, where I would go, nothing. Everything was confusing, I felt like I was choking. I couldn’t understand why all this was happening, and why it was happening at this time. I had looked forward to my wedding, to be married to the love of my life. I wanted a peaceful life, but all I was getting was chaos upon chaos. My mind was clouded with different thoughts, where was I to go from here? Do I continue this marriage? Do I forgive my husband and sister? I didn’t know what to do. But something was certain, I needed to get out of here for a while. I didn’t want to see these people, I needed to start a new life, and that was what I was going to do. I stood up, looking around my room for valuable things I could take with me. I grabbed my little suitcase, which was yellow and had thin black stripes. I searched around, grabbing my makeup kits. I went to my wardrobe and grabbed a few clothes, putting them all in my suitcase. When I was done and I had packed everything that I knew I needed, I sat down on my bed, heaving a sigh of relief. This all still felt like a dream to me. I couldn’t believe my boyfriend of two years, that we had been planning to get married all this while was actually cheating on me and coupled with that, I had a one night stand with someone I thought was a stranger, but turns out he was my husband’s brother, and on my wedding night. I sighed as I tilted my head backward, blinking the tears that were about to drop back in. I stood up from my bed, held my suitcase and left my room, heading downstairs. My steps down the stairs were tense, and slow. When I got downstairs, there was no one there. I was thankful, because I did not want anyone to see me leave, I just wanted to leave quietly without any questions. I walked slowly out of the house and towards the gate, when I heard my name, making me halt my movement. I had not expected anyone to be outside, I did not want anyone to see me. I sighed as I turned and I was shocked by the person that stood before me. Raymond’s brother was standing outside by the door. At that instance, I felt pure anger and hatred. What did he want from me? I wanted nothing to do with him and I wanted to make sure he knew that. He walked up to me, stretching out his hand, in an attempt to take my hands. I moved back before he got the chance, looking at him in disgust. “Hi, can we talk?” I heard him say as he looked at me with concern. “There is nothing to talk about” I replied to him immediately, dragging my suitcase as I turned to leave. I halted after a few steps, and I turned, walking back to him. “Listen, Ethan, what we had last night was never supposed to happen, it was a mistake, so let us treat it as a mistake. We should never see each other again, or even breathe the same air” I said to him, anger laced in my tone. I didn’t wait for his reply. I never even wanted to hear it. I did not want to hear what he had to say, I just wanted to leave. I turned around and began to drag my suitcase out of the house. I heaved a sigh of relief, I had finally gotten that out of my chest.
