Merry Time was running out. I was running late but he kept babbling nonsense over the phone. Because whatever he was uttering was pure nonsense. “I said I can't get married to you, Merry.” His deep and could voice peered through the phone speakers and I paled. My mouth fell open in shock. He was not babbling after all. I took in a deep breath, my chest heaving in panic, “What are you saying Alex? Come I'm. I'm waiting in front of the Registrar. We have to go in together.” I breathed out, my eyes filling with tears. He couldn't get married? What the fucking hell. And he was telling me that over the phone. The fucking phone. I knew from the start that it was a bad idea to come to the Registrar separately, I wanted to go with Alex. But he said he got caught up in the studio and he would come to meet me. He even said he'd get to the Registrar before me. “We can't go in together Merry. Because we're not getting married.” “Have you been drinking?” I couldn't help but ask. Fuck, I couldn't calm down, I kept breathing hard, hoping whatever he was saying was a prank. “No. In Fact, I was working on a new song before you called. I'm busy, Merry.” He blurted out in a dismissive tone and it took everything within me not to drop my phone on the ground. “Alex, we're getting married.” I whispered, my whole body trembling in fear. “Not anymore. Don't you get it? We're over. Did you seriously think I'd marry you? Wake up, Merry!” He fired, his voice cold and unfeeling. Alex and I had been dating for five years. Five good years and we planned to get married today, only for him to ditch me. He was breaking up with me over the phone. How cruel from a man that I'd loved all my life? A man I sacrificed everything for? I was supposed to be in that studio. But I gave up everything for him. I made him a star. I wrote him songs, best-selling songs but he never gave me the credits and I never complained because I loved him. I would do anything for Alex. We loved each other. “Alex look,” I began, taking in a deep breath as I leaned on a car. I would actually fall if I didn't get support, because my legs were failing me. “I'm sorry if I've done anything to you. I'm sorry if I've offended you. But please, don't do this. Please, don't break up with me. I love you. Look,” I swallowed deep cleaning my tears with the back of my hands. “The rings are with me. Just come. Drive here. I'll wait for you Alex. Just come over so we can get married. Please. The registrar is inside waiting. Alex please.” I begged but silence reigned at the other side. I paused, thinking maybe he was probably regretting his decision, but the silence dragged on for too long. “Alex?” I called but there was no reply. I checked the phone and confirmed that the call was still on. “Alex? Alex? Alex, are you there?” I practically yelled. “Yes. Yes. Were you saying something?” What the fucking hell. Had he not been listening to me? Was I just blabbing to myself? “Alex, I've been talking.” I pointed out. “And I told you that I'm busy!” He said in a deadpanned voice and I felt my eyes spin. I closed my eyes, sucking in a deep breath and then exhaling. “I said I'm sorry. Please come over so we can finalize this wedding.” I begged. I needed to get married. For my inheritance and him. I wanted to marry him and live happily with him and the kids we'd make. That was what I'd always dreamt of. “What's wrong with you Merry??” He suddenly yelled over the phone. “How do you want me to spell it out? I. Don't. Want. To. Get. Married. To. You!!” He yelled angrily, but he was not done. “How can I marry a girl like you? I'm a top star and you're nothing. You lack class. You can't be my wife.” He scoffed like he was talking about a piece of trash. “You're not fit to be one. You don't have what it takes to be by my side. Don't you look at yourself in the mirror?? Be honest, merry, take a good look at yourself, and tell me if you'd marry a person like you?” I'd never gotten this insulted before in my life. “Alex, we dated for five years. Five years!!!!” I screamed, stomping my feet on the ground in tears. Caring less if I was in public. “And? You act so pathetic and I just pitied you. I've done enough!” He spat over the phone. Why didn't say these when I wrote him chart-topping songs? “Alex, I–” “Look merry,” he interrupted. “This should be the last time you call me. If it's about money, I can give you that.” “Do you think this is about money? Alex I love-” I was suddenly interrupted with a ‘beep-beep’ sound. He ended the call. “Alex! Alex! Please don't do this to me” I begged in tears as I fell weakly to the ground, sobbing hard. He couldn't do that to me. I tried calling him again, but it went straight to voicemail. “Alex, n..ooo.” I sobbed, taking a look at the ring box in my hand. He ditched me. He broke my heart to pieces in the worst possible way ever that there was nothing left. He used me and left me. I was still crying hard when I heard the sound of the car door quickly. I shuddered, rising to my feet. I forgot that I was leaning on a car that was not mine and don't tell me someone was in there all this while. The car door opened and a man stepped out. A tall man and he was….well good looking. He leaned against his car, his eyes narrowing at me, “Crying in public and using someone's vehicle as a shoulder to cry on? Not cool.” I swallowed hard, his piercing blue eyes staring directly at me.
