Gently cradling the now peacefully sleeping small dog in his arms, Axel made his way back to his car, determined to ensure a comfortable journey for his newfound companion. As he carefully placed the slumbering pup on the car seat and began reversing, an unforeseen disruption occurred the sudden movement jostled the puppy, causing it to tumble onto the car floor. Axel swiftly hit the brakes, a look of concern crossing his face. He stepped out of the car, lifting the drowsy dog back into his arms. “I’m sorry. That must have. hurt,” Axel apologized, his empathy evident in his voice. “But at least you know what it feels like to have your sleep interrupted, so I guess we’re even,” he added with a hint of humor, acknowledging the shared experience of disrupted slumber between they had both suffered.
