Chapter 41 Strangers

I fought against the men with everything I had, but it was like struggling against a tidal wave. They were too strong, too fast, and I was overwhelmed. My heart pounded in my chest, and a sickening dread filled me as I realized that this might be the end. My life could end right here, right now, in this cold, dark garden, at the hands of these strangers. Was this Aemilio's plan all along? Had he finally decided to dispose of me? Get rid of me without anyone knowing? The thought chilled me to the bone. If I screamed, would it only make things worse? What if more men came? What if Bruno was part of this?
