Chapter 5 Allison

- Allison's POV After getting out of the shower I ordered a bottle of whiskey and beer, I spent the whole day drinking and I only sent a message to my parents and Jennifer, telling them that I was getting divorced and that my marriage was over, that I was fine and that I was going to work on Monday, of course they started calling me from then on and I didn't answer. I know that everyone reacts to certain situations, and most women would certainly make a fuss, but it wasn't like that with me, I'm feeling guilty about the betrayal, I feel like I should have realized it before and I don't want to be branded as the stupid woman who married a gay man without realizing it, as the idiot who caught her husband in bed with someone else. It may sound stupid of me, but that's how I feel, I know Stephan is a son of a bitch and he's certainly understood that I've found out everything, so much so that he's playing the fool by telling my parents that I'm asking for a divorce because of food and exercise, but fuck him, he's only thinking of himself. I've promised myself I'll never set foot in that house again, I'm disgusted with all my things in there and luckily, I have my suitcase of clothes, I'm going to get a divorce and as far as I'm concerned, let that bastard die. Right now, this hotel room is my home, and it's a mess, I only showered when I got to the hotel and I haven't showered or changed my clothes for three days, all I've done is eat junk food, drink alcohol, and watch slutty movies on TV, I keep mentally cursing myself for being so stupid and I feel disgusted, really disgusted because I've never been one to swear or act like this. I don't know what my life is going to be like from now on, I don't know what it's going to be like when I go back to work and find that son of a bitch, I don't know how my father is going to treat me, but I do know one thing: I'm going to get back on my feet. I'm going to bury inside me that dumb, idiotic Allison who was content with any shit, from now on I'm going to be someone else and I'm going to start changing right now. ... I get up from the floor, wipe away my tears, take a deep breath, and tidy up my room. I sort out the clothes that I've messed up by wiping my mouth or spilling a drink on and putting them in the laundry bag, collecting all the packaging and garbage that was lying around, and picking up some clean clothes. Not only that, but I go into the bathroom and take a long shower, when I've finished I change and call room service to come and clean up, I pick up my bag and decide to go out, I need to get back on my feet and I'm going to start by changing my style, I've always dressed very modestly and never worn anything too flashy, lately whenever I went shopping for clothes that son of a bitch Stephan encouraged me to dress in pastel colors, but now this shit is going to change, a new woman is being born. With this thought I go out into the street, I'd already told reception that Stephan was forbidden to see me, I hadn't told them which hotel I was in, but now that my mother has found out, it won't be long before everyone comes after me. I get a cab and go to the mall, I start walking around the stores and buy everything I like and think is pretty, I buy pretty printed clothes and all the time I remember my mother, she loves clothes like that, Jennifer is more discreet and I miss them with me, before I got married, we used to go shopping together and it was so much fun. "I want that printed blue one, and the orange one, and the red one," I say to the saleswoman, who flashes a big smile. I buy clothes, shoes, some jewelry and everything I'm entitled to, and finally, I have to call the hotel and ask them to send me a driver so I can take everything, tomorrow I'm going to buy some new makeup and do something with my hair. As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I saw Jennifer sitting at the reception desk, she saw me and came up to me very seriously and I knew she was worried. "Allison, do you want to worry everyone to death? We've been looking for you like crazy, it was hard to find you in this hotel, Dad's pissed off! Mom kind of calmed things down, but she said you weren't well, so I came to see you... I'm almost worried myself to death!" She says and comes to hug me. "I'm fine, calm down," I say, hugging my sister. I hug her tightly and get emotional, I feel like shouting and saying that I've been betrayed and that I've caught the son of a bitch in bed with someone else, but I just let a few tears fall and don't say anything. "What happened? You never cry... did they hurt you?" Jennifer asks, getting emotional. "It's nothing Jennifer, I'm fine and I'll be even better, don't worry," I say, pulling away and wiping my tears, then I continue. "I went shopping and I've only just arrived, let's go up with me and I'll show you everything," I say, changing the subject. Jennifer just nods and we go up to the room, the valet takes all my things up, and I take everything out of the bags and show it to Jennifer. "You've chosen everything so colorful, you're going to look like Mom..." Jennifer says, looking at some dresses. "I just want to change my look, tomorrow I'm going to do something with my hair," I say excitedly. "Allison, what did Stephan do to you?" Jennifer asks bluntly. "He didn't do anything, I just don't like him anymore and decided to change my life a bit." I shrug. "I don't understand, a few days ago you were doing so well, Stephan is inconsolable, he loves you, Allison." Jennifer looks at me expectantly, as if she thinks I'm going to change my mind and give up on this divorce. No, he doesn't love me, he just used me in the worst way anyone can, he didn't think about me or my feelings. "Jennifer, I'm going to divorce him and that's settled, I know that you love me and respect me, so I'm going to ask you not to say anything more about this, I know that I acted strangely and even wrongly by coming to this hotel from my trip, I didn't even see my cell phone and that was wrong, I'm sorry if I worried everyone, but my marriage is over Jennifer, and there's no one in this world who's going to convince me to go back," I say calmly. "I just... I thought you'd never break up, I mean, you're so alike and you've always got on so well..." She says sadly. I go over to the bed and sit down next to Jennifer, taking her hand. "Life isn't always a fairy tale Jennifer, appearances can be deceiving, but don't be sad for me, everything happens in this life for a reason... anyway, let's not talk about it anymore, help me pack the rest of my things and let's go to the hotel restaurant for dinner, I'm hungry." I stand up and smile. Jennifer helped me and we tidied up, the room was clean and the bathroom too, when I left, they cleaned everything and changed the sheets, at least Jennifer saw that everything wasn't a pigsty. She's going to tell everyone, so my mother will be calmer, I don't want to show sadness anymore. "I'm hungry," I say as we go to the restaurant buffet, I haven't eaten anything all day. "You haven't been going without food, have you?" Jennifer asks worriedly. "No." I blatantly lie, I haven't had a decent meal in days. We set out our plates and out of habit, I grabbed salad, vegetables, and a steak. I only realized how I'd set out my plate when we sat down. "You know you're going to have to face Dad on Monday, right?" Jennifer asked as she took a piece of steak into her mouth. "Yes, I'm going to prepare myself emotionally for that until then." Today is Saturday, I only have the rest of today and tomorrow to prepare myself emotionally and not cry like a little girl in front of my father. "Do you remember Mr. Anton Grey?" Jennifer says and of course I do.
