Chapter 16 Classified Information
Before Zuo Tianyang could say anything, a police officer entered the room holding some documents. "Captain, based on the surveillance footage from Xinghai Bay, the deceased Huang Hao entered the villa last night, was chased out, and ten minutes later, Zuo Tianyang returned. Therefore, we can eliminate Zuo Tianyang as a suspect."
Nangong Xue took the documents and carefully reviewed them, deep in thought.
After analyzing the surveillance footage, it became clear that Zuo Tianyang could not have been the perpetrator due to the timing. This left the possibility that he might be the mastermind behind the scenes.
"Captain, here are Zuo Tianyang's files, but..." the police officer handed Nangong Xue a file on Zuo Tianyang, hesitating.
"But what?" Nangong Xue took the file, her expression changing suddenly.
Upon opening the file, she saw only three words: "No access."
"Are you... part of a special forces unit?" Nangong Xue's heart skipped a beat as she considered the implications.
Coming from a special background, she understood the significance of those three words. In China, only high-ranking officials or members of secret military units had restricted access to information.
Given Zuo Tianyang's age, he couldn't belong to the former category. It seemed likely that he was associated with a secret military unit.
"I have nothing to say," Zuo Tianyang closed his eyes, acknowledging his affiliation with the secret forces but maintaining a dual identity. If the police delved deeper into his alias "Natural Disaster," more information would surface.
"Don't assume that being part of the secret forces grants you immunity. I assure you, I will uncover the truth even if you remain silent."
"Oh," Zuo Tianyang remained unfazed.
Angrily glaring at Zuo Tianyang, Nangong Xue left the interrogation room to make a phone call.
"Help me gather information on a person named Zuo Tianyang from the secret forces," she requested.
Upon returning to the interrogation room, Nangong Xue's demeanor grew more severe as she confronted Zuo Tianyang. "As a soldier turned criminal, are you upholding the oath you once swore under the national flag? Are you honoring the country that raised you?"
Zuo Tianyang bristled at her words. "Officer, it's premature to label me a criminal before all the facts are known."
"Your words hold no weight. I will uncover the truth. Until then, you will remain here."
"Captain, a call for Team Three!" a police officer announced, interrupting their exchange.
Ignoring Zuo Tianyang, Nangong Xue left to take the call. "This is Nangong Xue!"
After receiving urgent news, she instructed, "You all stay here and watch Zuo Tianyang!"
Moments later, two individuals escorted Zuo Tianyang out of the interrogation room and into a police car.
Zuo Tianyang was transported to the Ninghai City Supermax Detention Center without resistance, only showing defiance once inside the detention room.
Surrounded by six intimidating inmates, Zuo Tianyang sat calmly on a vacant bed.
"Kid, how many times have you been in jail? Do you know the rules?" a menacing figure inquired.
"I don't know, and I don't care to know. But in here, I make the rules. Just keep quiet and leave me be," Zuo Tianyang responded calmly, eyes closed.
The prisoners were shocked. They couldn't believe the arrogance of Zuo Tianyang. Previous visitors either left with bruises or were carried out by others. And now, a newcomer had arrived?
"Young man, you seem to have a high opinion of yourself. You look good, so I'll give you a chance to serve me. Otherwise, don't blame us for being ruthless!" The big man approached without any hesitation.
"You will be incapacitated," Zuo Tianyang said calmly.
"Incapacitated? Hahaha! Did you hear that, guys? This kid thinks he's going to turn me into a vegetable!" The big man threw a punch at Zuo Tianyang's head, shouting, "I'll incapacitate you first!"
But Zuo Tianyang remained unfazed. As the fist neared, he retaliated with a punch to the big man's face.
The 200-pound man was sent flying, crashing into the wall with a caved-in face and foaming at the mouth.
The other prisoners were stunned. When they checked on the big man, they were horrified to see his sunken facial bones. After a few convulsions, he passed out.
They were terrified by the brutality of the young man's attack. With just one punch, the notorious street bully had been reduced to a pitiful state.
They looked at Zuo Tianyang with fear in their eyes.
"You can now return to your place quietly."
The men dared not look at the unconscious big man and hurried back to their beds.
Meanwhile, Nangong Xue was driving to the police station. She had received a call from a member of the third team reporting a crime and providing a video of Zuo Tianyang in the act.
Upon arrival, Nangong Xue found no one there and realized she had been deceived.
During her journey, Nangong Xue received a familiar call and inquired, "Any updates?"
A strong and steady voice responded, "Xue'er, the other party's identity file is highly classified, accessible only to top leaders in the central government."
"What...what?"
Nangong Xue was shocked, her eyes widening in disbelief.
"And there's more. Those with such high-level clearance usually have a unique characteristic."
"What makes him special?"
"In simple terms, he has a license to kill. With sufficient evidence, he can enforce the law." The caller also found it unbelievable, but it was the truth.
Nangong Xue was speechless, nearly veering the car off the road. She now understood why Zuo Tianyang had mentioned his innocence even if he killed Mo Yuanshan.
Given Mo Yuanshan's criminal activities and casualties, Zuo Tianyang had the authority to use his law enforcement powers.
Unaware that Zuo Tianyang had been transferred to a top-level detention facility, Nangong Xue was left in shock.
