Chapter 6

As night fell upon us, our run towards Denver continued. Hunter, Caleb, and the other four werewolves and I moved with speed and agility, our paws hitting the ground like a war rhythm. The chilly wind enveloped us. As I ran in my lupine form, I felt the freedom of speed and the wild nature. The trees, streams, and the cool forest breeze were my constant companions, and the sensation of the ground beneath my paws was reassuring. Finally, we arrived at a cabin a bit away from the city, which would be our stopping point before entering Denver. Caleb transformed into a human at the door and opened it with a conspiratorial smile. “The clothes are in the usual place, folks.” Hunter and the others quickly made their way inside the cabin, heading upstairs to find their clothes. I, on the other hand, stayed outside the cabin, curiously observing the new environment. The cabin was quite different from what I was used to. It was cozy and well-decorated, with dark wooden furniture and curtains swaying gently in the wind. As I looked around, my senses were filled with the scents of the humans who had been there. It was strange but fascinating. It was so different from how I and the pack lived. Caleb snapped his fingers in my direction, getting my attention. He smiled and said, “There's a room at the end of the hallway. Hopefully, you'll find women's clothes there.” I looked at him curiously. “Are there differences in human attire?” Caleb laughed and approached, placing a hand on my shoulder. “Humans have many differences among themselves, and you'll see that for yourself.” I nodded and followed Caleb down the hallway, where he pointed to the bedroom door. I entered, finding a cozy space in shades of beige and white. There was a photo of a young blonde woman on one of the walls. I paused for a moment, looking at the portrait, wondering who she was and what her life had been. I knew that the next step was to transform into a human. I had witnessed other wolves performing this transformation with ease, but for me, it was the first time. Everyone said that the first transformation is always a bit more painful since the body isn't accustomed to the transition. I took a deep breath and focused, remembering all the teachings Alastair had provided. He had always emphasized the importance of controlling my emotions and keeping my mind calm during the transformation. But in this first attempt, inexperience was an obstacle I would have to overcome. With a deep sigh, I began the transformation. The initial sensation was a tingling under my skin, which quickly intensified into a searing pain. I clenched my teeth as the pain began to intensify, like sharp needles piercing my skin. My body writhed, and I struggled to maintain control. The pain now came in waves, starting from my bones and spreading throughout my body. It was a pain unlike anything I had ever experienced as a wolf, a pain that felt like it was tearing my skin and muscles apart. The pain coursed through my body as my bones and muscles rearranged. The feeling of flesh and skin replacing my fur was strange and uncomfortable. It felt like intense pressure, as if it were crushing me. My front and rear paws elongated, my bones shifting and adapting to my new form. My hands contorted, my bones stretching and shrinking, and my skin transformed into something I didn't recognize. It was as if my own body was rebelling against the change. I tried to hold onto the furniture in the room to avoid falling. My nails dug into the dresser's wood, and I felt blood seeping from my fingers, but I forced myself to continue. I couldn't stop now; I couldn't turn back. My skin felt like it was burning, and the sensation of being torn in two was unbearable, but I struggled to stay in control. Finally, the pain reached its peak and then began to recede. Gasping and trembling, I saw myself in human form for the first time. My black hair fell over my shoulders, my skin was pale, and my vision was slightly blurred. However, I was finally in my human form, and that was a victory. Slowly, I pulled myself up from the furniture, still feeling weak and dizzy. My legs wobbled, but I managed to balance myself. I looked around the room, trying to get used to the sight of this unfamiliar world. The photo of the young blonde woman on the dresser seemed to be smiling at me, as if welcoming me to this new journey. Trembling, I took a few uncertain steps, testing the feeling of walking as a human. It was strange and awkward, but I was determined to learn. With each step, I felt more confident and capable. Slowly, I approached the mirror hanging on the wall. My body was naked, and I shivered, sweating from the effort. My fur had receded and disappeared, revealing smooth and tanned skin. My wolf's coat had given way to long, silky black hair. My yellow eyes had turned brown, and my paws had transformed into hands and feet. My hands trembled as I reached up to touch my human face, my long, silky hair. I had done it. I had transformed into a human. Joy flooded my heart, overpowering the pain I had just endured. I was a woman now, a wolf in human form. I looked in the mirror on the wall and saw myself, an image I never thought I would see. I was beautiful, in a way that was completely different from how I saw myself as a wolf. The feeling of being human was strange and new, but also exciting. I looked at my hands and my body, feeling the soft touch of human skin. I decided to explore the room in search of women's clothing and found a wardrobe with a variety of pieces. With the help of the photo of the blonde woman, I chose clothes that seemed suitable. I picked a simple outfit, consisting of jeans and a blue blouse. Putting on human clothes was a challenge since I had never done it before. I had to get used to the feeling of fabric against my skin, the tight shoes, and the sensation of being fully covered. Once I was dressed, I looked in the mirror again. I was a woman, and my human form would allow me to blend into the world of humans. I was ready to face the human world alongside Hunter and the others.
