Chapter 21 Puzzlement

Katherine took my hand tenderly and looked at me with loving eyes. “You can trust me, Emily. Tell me your confusion, and maybe I can help you,"she said. I lowered my eyelids, and thought for a moment. Finally, I gathered the courage to ask Catherine, “When I was in prison, someone tried to poison and kill me. When Leon found out, he immediately sent someone to investigate. I was there at the time, and it had something to do with Black Wolf's slaves. Who are they, and why did they try to hurt me?”
