Arriving at her destination, Cassandra paid the taxi driver and exited the car onto a somewhat busy street lined with gloomy-looking buildings. Reclaiming her belongings from the trunk, Cassandra deposited them on the sidewalk. As she stood there, she surveyed the urban apartment complex before her. She hadn't expected anything lavish from her temporary new home, but it reminded her of the projects back in the States. However uncomfortable she might feel staying in a place like this, she was out of other choices. As she approached the entrance to the building, Cassandra noticed the other residents sizing her up and staring at her with curiosity. Not knowing what to do, she just awkwardly smiled and entered the building. "Fourth floor..." Cassandra muttered, reminding herself about where her apartment was located. Approaching the nearby elevator, she groaned at the sign she saw plastered on it. She had no idea what it said, but she surmised that it meant the elevator was out of service.
