Chapter 32 Spring Blossoms
SPRING WAS A FEAST this year: waxy snow drops first and violets, pink and white and many purples, then yellow daffodils and small translucent white ones and creamy ones with egg-yoke yellow centers. Tiny spring beauties sprouted near the mailbox, vinca minor turned their small cobalt faces up from rich greenery. Flowering quince exploded overnight into labia-orange rays.
I reached for you in the morning, every morning, feeling myseif flowering too, my own sap rising and spilling over into an excess of energy, of passion, of sheer exhuberant good spirits.
