Hayden looked up at his mother, whose face looked somewhat pale. He shook her arm and comforted her, saying, "Mom, what are you worried about? Joseph isn't my dad, anyway." His voice snapped Nicole out of her thoughts. Looking down at her son's tender cheeks, she swept him up in her arms and pinched his cheek gently with her fingers as her lips curled into a forced smile. "I was just angry because I thought someone's trying to snatch you away from me."
