Chapter 66 The Scum Ii
Even though I hadn't been there for a good few years, I felt as if it had only been a short time since I had set foot on those sands, when my parents were still alive. I liked it there because it was the only place where we had meals together as a family. If I closed my eyes, I could still remember Jorel running barefoot while our mother kept her eyes on him, following him everywhere, afraid that my younger brother would fall in, since he couldn't swim and refused to take swimming lessons.
The funny thing is that while I loved the lake house and Jorel didn't care where I went, as long as I was out for a walk, Aneliese hated the place with all her might. So much so that when the inheritance was divided, she fought for the place to be sold and was furious that I wouldn't give it up, keeping it as part of our memories. Even though I kept the house, I didn't go back until then... Just like my brothers. Plans were made with Mônica, but we ended up going to other countries and places and I didn't bring her back to where I spent the few good moments as a family.
