Chapter 3
AUTHOR’S POV
Upon hearing that she was pregnant, Glyndon almost ran wild.
Sweat clouded her forehead and she repeatedly wiped her tongue across her lips.
“ It seems you're mistaken, Doctor. I'm not pregnant at all.”
A nervous smile crawled its way to her lips as her enfeebled hands clutched tightly against her gown.
“ This has been my profession for a long time, Mrs. Kings. I can assure you that you're pregnant.” The doctor smiled once again.
Glyndon glanced at her and felt like wiping that smile off her face.
“ I don't believe this.” She muttered, clutching at the shimmer of ephemeral hope inside of her.
“ I need to do the test myself.” She concluded and sauntered out of the doctor’s office.
Glyndon flagged down a cab which took her to a pharmacy where she got a pregnancy kit to confirm if she was indeed pregnant.
For some reason, she didn't believe the doctor and wanted to have hope that her test results were mixed up with someone else's.
Upon getting to her apartment, Lora had already gone to work, so she had all the time in the world to confirm if she was really pregnant.
Fear coated her body as she made her way to the bathroom, her hand tightly wrapped against the pregnancy kit.
Ten minutes…..
Twenty minutes…
Thirty minutes….
Glyndon didn't leave the bathroom. She remained there for thirty minutes, before coming out, her face pale and her eyes bloodshot.
It was as if she had come across a Grim reaper.
“ Why! Why! Why!” She muttered as she bit on her nails nervously.
Glyndon didn't want her wedding to get ruined, not when it was just in two days.
“ What do I do? Landon mustn't find out.” She asked as she bit on her nails more intensely while pacing to and fro in her room.
“ Glyn, are you back?” A loud voice said, causing Glyndon to flinch a little.
She was contemplating whether to tell Lora or not.
“ Yes, I'm back.” She replied and almost immediately, the door burst open and Lora rushed in.
“ What did the test result say?” Lora asked curiously.
“ I'm pregnant.” Glyndon muttered with a heavy sigh.
“ Congrats! I'm going to be a godmother…but wait, why aren't you happy? You're finally carrying Landon's child.” Lora arched her brow.
“ The thing is that…sigh! The child isn't Landon's.”
Glyndon muttered, causing the smile on Lora’s face to immediately wipe off.
“ Stop pulling such expensive jokes. Are you out of your mind?”
“ I'm not. The child belongs to Landon's older brother, Cole. During the engagement party, I was asked to take him to his room, but somehow, under the influence of alcohol, we ended up having sex.”
“ Oh…my…God! Glyndon! For one month, you never told me about it.” Lora said, her voice higher than usual.
“ I know, and I'm sorry about it. This is why I'm telling you now.” Glyndon replied and slouched on the bed.
“ The wedding is in just two days, how do you intend to manage the situation?”
“ All I have to do is to hide the pregnancy and after the wedding, I will make sure to have sex with Landon so as to make the baby his.”
Glyndon started, her voice came out braver and resolute.

TWO DAYS LATER
It was finally the day of the wedding.
The Kings Hotel was buzzing with people of different hierarchy and calibre.
As one of the richest families in New York, The Kings have many connections and could even invite the president to the wedding.
Mrs. Kings was the most excited of all.
She made sure to invite all her friends from far and near and was also in charge of the arrangements.
Soon, the wedding commenced fully and the priest began the service.
Inside the dressing room beside the wedding hall, Glyndon sat on a dressing chair while her face was dolled up by the makeup artist.
Unlike during the engagement, her face was masked with sadness and worry.
She looked pale and her eyes were dull.
“ You need to smile, Glyn. Stop making it seem like you've lost your husband. Are you a widow?”
Lora asked, looking at her friend who seemed like she would be dead in any minute from now.
“ Can you excuse us?” Lora asked the makeup stylist who smiled and walked out.
“ Lora, I really don't want to lie to Landon. I feel guilty while staring at him. He would run wild when he finds out that I'm carrying his brother's child.”
Tears threatened to fall off her eyes, but she was able to hold it back.
“ Why not tell Cole about it?” Lora suggested, but Glyndon was fast to reject the idea.
“ That would make matters even worse. He will call me a whore, and right now, that's the least I need from anyone.” She sniffled and looked at herself in the mirror.
“ I have to do this for the love I have for Landon.” She forced a smile and stood up.
“ Let's go.” She nudged at Lora who sighed.
“ Are you sure about this, Glyn? You can stay back for a few minutes and think about it.”
“ There's nothing to think about, Lora. I will get married to Landon and won't let this child stop me.” Her voice was filled with confidence.
“ If you say so.”
…….
Since Glyndon was an orphan with no parents, Lora decided to walk her best friend down the aisle.
And the priest began with the exchange of rings.
All this while, Landon was staring at Glyndon with so much disgust and hatred that made her uncomfortable.
She smiled at him but he didn't return it as he usually does, and it made her heart race uncontrollably.
“ Is there anyone who is against this marriage?”
The priest asked, looking around the crowd which was quiet, until Landon raised his hand.
Murmurs and whispers filled the hall, but Landon didn't care as he took the microphone from the priest who was also shocked.
“ What are you doing?” Glyndon whispered, but he shoved her off roughly, glaring daggers at her.
“ I don't want to get married to Glyndon. This bitch is already pregnant with another man's child!”
Gasps erupted inside the hall as many eyes widened and their faces turned pale in shock.
“ I….what..are you talking about, Landon?” Sweat clouded her forehead as she clutched onto her wedding dress tightly.
“ You think I won't know? You slept with another man on the night of our engagement. Aren't you a whore for doing that? And you claimed to love me!” Landon replied coldly, as all the warmth in his eyes became frozen.
“ I….can…explain…” Glyndon held his hand, but he shoved her off roughly, causing her to fall to the ground.
She felt a heart wrenching pain in her lower abdomen and a scream tore off her lips.
Due to Landon's push, she fell on the altar and that has resulted in the pain she was feeling.
Despite her cry and scream, Landon didn't look back as he walked out of the wedding hall, leaving Glyndon alone.
“ You're bleeding, Glyn!” Lora shouted in horror as she rushed towards her friend.
“ What?”
Glyndon's eyes widened and almost immediately, it rolled to the back of her head and darkness clouded her vision.
