Chapter 2 Beauty And The Beasts
Fiel could hear Aurora sobbing inside the clinic. It had been several days since the night they saved her household from the robbers. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt. Her father was safe and was currently with her brother, who was a police officer.
The father had asked them to take care of Aurora for the time being, and although they were curious, they didn't ask any questions. During the days Aurora stayed under their care, Fiel felt a strange sensation around her that he couldn't quite identify. He was overwhelmed by her scent, so he didn't get too close to her.
He entered the room to check on Aurora and see how she was doing. As her personal caregiver, he often heard her cry, like she was doing now. Sometimes, Gray would watch over her when Fiel was busy.
Fiel gazed at Aurora's features – her small, pointed nose; thin, natural red lips; smooth, rosy cheeks; perfectly shaped eyebrows, as if sculpted by Michelangelo. All these characteristics came together in her heart-shaped face. Every inch is a lady.
Just as he was admiring her, he felt Gray's presence. "It's not polite to stare at a sleeping beauty, Fiel, you know," Gray teased.
"How is she?"
"Still anxious. Like when we first brought her here, she's still crying even in her sleep."
"It's not easy for her, especially since she saw her father being hurt. Why didn't you use—"
"Illusion?" Fiel cut in. "I tried, but it didn't work on her." Fiel saw the surprise in Gray's eyes, and he was also surprised when he first discovered it. It was the first time he'd met someone who wasn't affected by his ability.
"What is she, a Shield?" Gray asked after a while.
"Impossible. If she were a Normal New Born, she could have finished off those men, and we should have sensed it at the airport." Gray nodded in agreement. The woman became a mystery to them.
"Dad!" Aurora suddenly screamed. Fiel and Gray rushed to her side. Like the previous days, she was crying again.
"They hurt my dad for no reason. It hurt me to see him get hurt just to protect me." She was sobbing uncontrollably now.
"Hush! Don't worry, everything is okay now. Your dad is fine. All you need to do now is get better," Gray comforted her. Aurora nodded, still crying. Fiel sighed, feeling helpless. He knew it wasn't easy for her, given what she'd been through.
After several days, Aurora's condition improved, especially after talking to her father. "You stay with them for now, hija. I'm sorry I didn't get to say goodbye. Something just came up. Don't worry about me; I'm with Jethro. I'm relieved you're with them." Aurora remembered her father's words during their last conversation.
Aurora was relieved that they were safe, even though she couldn't remember what happened the night they were robbed. She didn't want to think about the past because it made her sad, and she had to admit that she still felt scared when she remembered the incident. Her father almost got hurt because of greed.
She let out a deep sigh to release the weight on her chest. "How are you, beauty?" Leron greeted her, making her jump in surprise because she didn't notice the four men arriving. They were tall, and she suspected they had muscular physiques, making their footsteps light.
"I'm fine, thanks to you guys. Thank you so much," she replied with a smile, studying the four men. They looked like gods from Olympus, each with unique features. Leron and Thor seemed mysterious, with Thor having golden brown eyes and Leron having green eyes. Gray had a light aura, always smiling, and was fairer than the others, with long golden hair and amber eyes.
Fiel, on the other hand, was the most handsome, and she had a crush on him. He had clean-cut hair, blue eyes, and a serious expression, but he never smiled or scolded her. He wore a laboratory coat and gloves, just like the others. She noticed they all wore similar attire, like Vin Diesel in The Last Witch Hunter.
Maybe they were afraid of getting tanned, she thought, chuckling to herself. Suddenly, she felt embarrassed when Leron cleared his throat. "Sorry," she said, wishing the ground would swallow her up due to her foolishness. Gray smiled, seemingly used to her antics, while Fiel's expression remained blank.
"Did your dad tell you that you're staying with us for now while he's abroad?" Thor asked her after a while.
"Yes, is it really okay with you guys? I could go home and hire private security to watch over me," she replied.
"Don't worry, it's fine with us. We're happy you and your dad trust us," Leron said. Aurora nodded and smiled, unsure of what else to say.
The four of them were actually pleased that Aurora was staying with them, especially since her abilities were still a mystery to them. They had discussed it among themselves and agreed that they wanted to learn more about her. Not just Fiel was intrigued by her, but all four of them were. Luckily, her father had asked them to take care of her while he handled the incident. Although Fiel didn't interact with her much, he admitted to stealing glances at her, especially when she was asleep. She wasn't like other women who showed obvious interest, but he noticed she sometimes looked at him when he was working. She was closer to Gray than the others, often joking with him, so Fiel knew she wouldn't be too surprised when they took her to their place.
