Chapter 5

I guess it’s puberty… she laughed. She had to shift her focus to me; she became my interior designer. It became a tradition afterward. She would always break her piggy bank to buy stickers and others for decoration. Gosh, I’m going to miss her so much! She wept. They have been inseparable since they were kids, and now she has to go away for a while. The person who hurt her the most: was her family. She felt guilty for not protecting her enough. After bumping into him at the restaurant, she hasn’t spoken to her uncle! Anytime he addresses her, she just ignores him. Emily became distant not only from her but from her own family as well. She was too ashamed to reach out to her; secondly, she was not picking up anyone’s calls, as she tried to reach her to no avail. She would call her parents or brother to ask about her. “She’s locked herself in the room for weeks; she hardly comes out. Can you come to talk to her? Aunt, I would want to, but I feel like all this is happening is my fault, and I’m not ready to face her yet! “ I understand your concern; take your time, and be sure that she is not blaming you for what has happened either. She just needs time to heal! Susan assured her one time.” Six months goes by, and everyone is doing well after the incident. Emily seems to be vested in excelling well in law school and has also gained admission to another university in Blue Crest Hills, where she currently lives. Felicia stepped up to her duties as the first female child of her parents and the heir to Jackson’s throne; she did exceptionally well in her role. At the Watsons, Ian is going through the process of becoming the youngest vice president of the Watsons empire; everyone is well. “We are very sorry we can’t make it to watch you for your first trial today, honey!” Susan said. “It’s fine; I understand. I will be upset if you guys miss the second trial, though,” she added. “You’re just like a little kid, so!! Indecisive! We wanted to come; you said we shouldn’t. We can leave the office for a day; coming to support you means we care, and we will root for you every step of the way, as usual. You wanted attention, and you have gotten it. What other tricks do you have up your sleeve, big sister? Ian Chimed in to say. “For your information, baby brother, I have a lot of them, and I can’t wait to catch you by surprise again! I didn’t want you to come; I mean, what if I don’t win the trial? Even though it's a little case, it's a big deal, I want to make you guys proud and that of myself too!” she said sadly. It’s okay to lose, baby; whichever way today turns out, we are still proud of you!” George said from behind, "Oh, your dad is here now! Are you ready? Here, talk to her beforehand. Let me go tell Mr. Bash to get the car ready, alright? Emi, call me after your trial. Love you. Bye.” “Bye, Mom.” “Darling, if you win, I have a surprise for you; if you don’t, I still have a surprise for you—a win-win situation. I’m impressed by how a first-year student doing her internship bagged a first case. I’m super proud of you!” He said proudly. “Hello, old man, I am here. What about me? You aren’t proud of me? Wow!” Ian said jokingly. “Stop playing around. Why are you still standing here? You should be out helping your mom put things away before we leave for work. You are here!” George said.
