Chapter 1 I Won't Repeat The Same Mistakes
Alicia Winter's POV:
When I came to, it felt like my body was breaking into pieces.
Even though I was hurting all over, the sharp scent of blood hit me first.
Eventually, I managed to open my eyes and saw blood pooling near me, with a spiral staircase towering overhead.
In a foggy daze, I caught the sound of my wolf, Nova's voice. "Aly! Are you awake?"
"Nova?"
Right as I was about to answer Nova, I caught the sound of voices drifting down from above.
"Evelyn, Grandma forced me to choose Alicia as my mate—it was all about repaying a debt! She ruined my life, and I swear, I don't care about her at all. I never have, and I never will."
"Evelyn, I promised to protect you from anything that makes you sad. I know how much you hate Alicia, so I pushed her down the stairs for you. She won't forget that lesson anytime soon. And Lucas? He's never cared about her—he's always been there to comfort you. So please stop crying, alright?"
That voice—I knew it too well ...
It was Alexander White and Lucas Black!
"Aly! You have to wake up!" Nova called out again, and this time, her urgency snapped me out of my daze completely.
"Nova, what happened?" I asked her silently through our mental link.
"Listen to me, Aly! The Moon Goddess has given you a second chance—you've been reborn to the time before your marriage to Lucas!"
As soon as she said that, Nova released her energy, and suddenly, memories from my past life flooded into my mind.
Back then, I was just an ordinary she-wolf in the Moonlight Pack, raised by my grandmother after my parents were gone.
When I turned 16, my grandmother lost her life savings to an elderly woman during an ambush—poisoned by a venom only wolves carry.
After losing my grandmother—the only family I had—and watching my pack fall apart in that same attack, I ended up being taken in by the woman my grandmother had saved. She claimed she owed my grandmother her life, so to repay the favor, she made her grandson accept me as his mate.
That's how I ended up with Lucas.
But he never truly wanted me. His heart had always belonged to Evelyn White, a she-wolf from the Frostfang Pack.
Even though they came from separate packs, Lucas and Evelyn had been close since they were kids—their packs had a long-standing alliance, and they grew up side by side. Their bond ran deep, and that's why Lucas hated being forced into a mating bond his grandmother arranged.
Even after I officially became his mate and took on the role of Luna for the Obsidian Pack, none of it mattered to him. He never acknowledged everything I gave up for him and the pack. His eyes were always cold when he looked at me.
Alexander treated me horribly too, blaming me for ruining his sister's happiness.
Evelyn did everything she could to bring me down—she even weakened my wolf with her schemes.
No matter what she did, Lucas and Alexander always defended her, never once doubting her side of the story.
When she claimed I'd paid Rogue wolves to ambush her—without a single shred of proof—they didn't hesitate to believe her. They pulled strings, reported me to the Alpha King, and had me thrown into the royal werewolf prison like a criminal.
During those three long years behind bars, I was pushed to the edge of death. They shattered my hand, broke my leg, and left my body covered in wounds—there wasn't a single spot that hadn't been torn open.
Right before I finally lost my life to the torture, Evelyn showed up just to smirk and watch me suffer.
From her own lips, I learned a truth that shook me to my core.
Her hatred for me wasn't just about Lucas—there was something more. Evelyn had always been just the adopted daughter of the Whites.
I was the one the Whites had been looking for—their biological daughter, lost for 25 years.
The truth about who I was finally came to light.
But I couldn't even utter a single word before meeting a tragic end in that prison.
Thankfully, the Moon Goddess showed me mercy and gave me and my wolf a chance at rebirth.
I thought back to my past life, remembering how Nova had tried so hard to protect me, even as she faced her own end ...
"Nova, this time, I won't repeat the same mistakes."
