Selene’s POV I swallowed hard, heart thudding against my ribs as my eyes locked onto the book Lucian held in his hands. My stomach twisted as anxiety curled itself tight in my chest, and for a split second, I truly wished the ground beneath me would open up and swallow me whole. He was holding it so casually, flipping through its pages like it meant nothing—like he wasn’t slowly unraveling the one thing I had kept hidden with everything in me. My legs felt weak, the air too thin to breathe properly, and I couldn’t decide if I should snatch it from him or pretend I didn’t recognize it.
