“I am aware of what you pulled off with Rachel,” Martin said, his gaze narrowing just enough to send a chill through me. “And I need you to walk me through everything. Every single thing that happened between the two of you that led her to storm into my office like a hurricane.” My stomach twisted and for a split second I lost my grip on the mask I had carefully worn all morning. I blinked, trying to reset my face into something neutral, calm, unbothered and innocent. “I didn’t do anything,” I said, lifting my shoulders in a small shrug, aiming for nonchalance. “I was just trying to keep the peace between us.”
