Chapter 3 My Destination Is Now Alpha Aric's Territory

Princess Elowen Starfire The sweet aroma of herbal tea mingled with the light scent of the fresh fruit that was in front of me. I had only just woken up, but I was ready to start the day. My beautiful gold dress fit my body perfectly, and this morning I kept my long hair tied up. The soft morning light entered through the dining room window and reflected in the silver ornaments on the table. My breakfast was always quiet, I was eating and drinking tea, looking at the beautiful view from the window. But today the quiet was interrupted by the sound of hasty steps. They flew quickly through the skies and whistled loudly. Even so, it was a beautiful view. I looked up just as Render entered the room, his countenance full of seriousness. I knew something had happened. ''Your Highness.'' He bowed slightly before holding up a sealed parchment. ''A letter has arrived from Derho. From Alpha Aric Darkclaw.'' He had answered the letter. But that quickly? My hands tensed around the cup. I took the letter and broke the seal without delay, quickly going through the firmly written lines. My eyes slid over the words until I found the crucial point. Hello, princess, I hope this letter finds you well. I'll get straight to the point; beat around the bush. I wish you to appear in my castle. I'm curious what you have to say. Come quickly. Sincerely, Alpha Aric Darwkclaw. The cup rattled slightly as it was placed back on the saucer, my heart beating harder. An invitation from a wolf, a feared and ruthless leader, known as much for his strength as his impatience, and this was noticeable in his letter. I don't think I've ever received such a direct invitation; it would be rather rude of a monarch to treat another like this. It could be a trap, but a threat in disguise. But his words, even if direct, that he wanted to hear me. A covenant could work. I took a deep breath and took a sip of my tea, as if it would help me think clearly. ''What will be your answer, Your Highness?'' Render asked, attentive to my reaction. Before I could answer, I felt the gentle presence of my younger sister, Aeloria, who had been sitting next to me ever since I sat down, remaining silent. Her silver eyes met mine, her expression quiet but perceptive. She was curious; I knew it. ''You know you have to go, Elowen.'' Her voice was calm but firm. ''If there's a chance to stop this war, we can't waste it. We need to do it for our parents.'' She was so young, but so mature for her age. I wanted this alliance to work and for her to be okay. I knew I had to go. I didn't want her to be alone, but it was necessary, at least for a few hours, but the guards wouldn't take their eyes off my sister; I wouldn't be long. I let out a sigh. Looking at the letter once again, I knew she was right. There were risks, but inertia also carried its danger; I couldn't afford to stand by while the threat approached my people. ''Prepare everything for the journey.'' I declared, my mind made up. ''We'll leave for Derho as soon as possible. And I want more guards to protect Princess Aeloria, do you understand?'' I gave the order to the guards who were standing a few meters away. They nodded, bowing in respect and loyalty. I looked at my sister, who was standing next to me. She took my hand and said softly. ''I'll be safe, sister; don't worry.'' she said, trying to comfort me. I just smiled at her and nodded. I looked at the table and decided to finish my tea and eat some fruit. I had to get ready for the trip. When I'd finished eating, I got up and looked at my sister, telling her I was going to my quarters. She just nodded. When my servants saw me standing up, they hurried to carry out my orders. They hurried out of the hall and into the kitchen, grabbing groceries and the like. Meanwhile, I retired to my chambers. When I entered, I closed the door and went to the closet, looking for something. I decided to for a cozy outfit; it was more appropriate for the journey, the sleeves were long, and the fabric wasn't too hot. My hair was braided, and a thin velvet cloak was draped over my shoulders. It wasn't just a journey; it was an encounter that could change the course of the war that was coming. When I had finished dressing, I put on the necklace my father had given me. It was made of crystal, very delicate. I put it around my neck, touching it lightly. I felt a mixture of longing, but I tried not to shed a tear now; I had to leave. I put on silver earrings and looked at myself in the oval mirror next to the closet, I was ready. I heard the door slam, and Render called me, so I went towards the door, looking at him. ''All ready, Your Highness.'' he said, bowing. I nodded and went downstairs to the hall. My sister was there; she complimented me and gave me a hug, wishing me a nice trip. I squeezed her gently and told her I'd be back soon. I waved to her and headed for the garden. The carriage had been prepared with the necessary supplies and accessories. Render had organized the escort with trusted soldiers, guaranteeing my safety on the journey. When the last items were placed in the cart, I got into the carriage, feeling my stomach turn slightly. It wasn't fear, but an inevitable tension in the face of the unknown. With one last look at the castle of Lunaria, the silver castle with delicate crystal details on it, I ordered it to leave. ''Go ahead.'' I said, looking out of the window at the forest surrounding my castle. The wheels began to turn on the stone road, and my destination was now the territory of Alpha Aric Darkclaw.
