Chapter 4 004

The lights were flickering on and off as smoke billowed out of Vesper's pipe.
His mind was racing with many thoughts, the mysterious person who tried to kill his father, which wasn't the first attempt, and he hadn't been able to do anything to stop it.
That's why he had set up a security system in his father's suite, but still, the attack happened! He glanced back at how his phone had buzzed, which made him miss his wedding.

Vesper's phone buzzed, shrill in the silence. He glanced down, his heart racing, as he read the message from his security system.
"Intruder. Unauthorized entry detected in your father's room." Vesper's eyes widened as he read the message, and he was about to walk when Nanny Celia held his hand.
"What is it, Vesper?" she asked. Vesper didn't respond, he just started walking, his head spun as he entered his father's suite.
The beeping machine had flatlined, and his eyes darted to the window, which was slightly open.
He ran to check and saw a person clad in black running.
"Don't let the mysterious escape," Vesper said, and Finn, who was standing outside, urged the guards to go after the mysterious person.
No one had the right to enter his father's suite, only his family doctor and Nanny Celia.
The door suddenly flung open, and Nanny Celia entered, seeing the beeping machine had flatlined again.
"Don't tell me someone attacked your father again," she said, and Vesper ran his hand through his hair.
"Just call the doc, Nanny," he said, and she dialed Dr. Kim's number.
He picked up on the fourth ring.
"There's an emergency at Jenkins Empire," Nanny Celia said, and the call ended.
"Vesper, what are we going to do about your wedding?" Nanny Celia muttered.
"Fûck the wedding, Nanny, my dad's life is in danger. Just informed Finn to send a message to Campbell that I won't be coming."
"What, you won't be attending your own wedding? Where have you ever seen that a bride got married without a groom?" Nanny Celia asked.
"Not like I give 100 damns about it, if it hasn't happened before, then let me make history, okay?" he muttered, and Nanny Celia went to inform Finn.
Just then, Dr. Kim arrived, quickly examined Vesper's father, and took a sample of the substance injected into his system. After running some tests, her expression turned grave.
"Vesper, this is a powerful neurotoxin. But there's something else added to it, an explosive compound that will detonate if we try to remove it."
"What do we do?" Vesper's eyes widened in horror.
"We need to stabilize your father's vital signs he'll have to remain in a coma until we can find an antidote. I'll work on that now." Dr. Kim's voice was steady.
Vesper nodded.

Hopefully, his father was fine now, and his thoughts were disrupted when he heard a knock on the door.
He stood up and went to open it, and it was Finn.
"What is it?" Vesper asked.
"The guards reported that they couldn't find the mysterious person, they lost the mysterious," Finn said.
"They're just useless," Vesper said and tucked his hand into his pocket.
"And my wife?" he asked.
"Mason reported that the wedding is over, so she's on her way here," Finn said, and Vesper nodded.
"Inform me when she arrives," he said and closed the door.
Then he walked to his bed.
He hadn't gone to the company today, and that was because of the wedding, so he had canceled all plans and meetings for the day.
But he was a big-time workaholic, so he got to his stand and pulled out his laptop.
His hands began dancing through the system.

Fred sat down in his swivel chair, busy chewing gum, and looked at Dennis, who had a file in his hand.
"Her name is Adriana Desmond," Dennis started, and Fred placed his hand on the table, eagerly waiting for what Dennis was going to say.
"She's twenty-three years old and works as a waitress at the famous Golden Club," Dennis said.
"And?" Fred asked.
"And what? What do you expect me to say?" Dennis asked.
"Do you realize who you're talking to?" Fred asked.
"I'm sorry, boss," Dennis muttered, but it wasn't even a minute before he burst out laughing.
"Boss, seriously, it doesn't even sound okay to my ear," Dennis muttered, and Fred rolled his eyes.
Though they were good friends with Vesper, Fred and Vesper had attended elementary school together, but Dennis hadn't joined them until their final year of college.
"I know I said you shouldn't call me boss when we're alone, but aren't you taking this too far?" Fred asked, relaxing himself in his swivel chair.
"Okay, let's be serious. But why do you need this woman's details? You barely just met her, isn't it weird?" Dennis asked.
"That's none of your business. And you said she works at Golden Club, huh?" Fred asked.
"Yeah," Dennis nodded.
"Do I have any appointments on my schedule?" Fred asked, and Dennis shook his head.
"None," he muttered.
"Good. Why don't we pay her a visit?" Fred asked.
"Did you say we? Who and who?" Dennis teased.
"You and me," Fred muttered.
"You must be joking," Dennis said.

The club was truly golden, just like its name implied. It was luxurious and catered to billionaires, with various scantily-clad women parading inside.
Adriana finished serving a table and walked back to the bar, about to sit down when a commotion erupted inside.
Oh my god!
Fred Reynolds is here!
Can't believe I'm gonna be seeing the owner of Sweet Spicy Wines!
Adriana scoffed where she was and she sat down.
"What are you doing, go and serve our new customer." Adriana boss said and she scoffed.
"But I just finished serving table 50,so another person should go and serve them." Adriana muttered.
"$20 dollars deducted out from your salary for speaking to me in that manner." her boss replied.
"What, you just can't deduct my money like that." Adriana said.
"Another $20 dollars deducted." Her boss muttered.
Adriana thought about how her boss was giving her a headache and how she needed to find a new job. She wondered why the companies she had submitted her CV to weren't calling her.
She went to table 4, where Fred was sitting, pressing his phone. When he looked up, his eyes caught her attention, particularly her breasts.
Adriana asked for his order, and Fred muttered, "How about you?" Adriana widened her eyes, and Dennis kicked his leg under the table.
"He meant he wants the sinner drink." Dennis quickly said.
Adriana got the drink and walked back to them, placing it on their table.
Fred pulled her back and asked her to open the drinks. Adriana rolled her eyes and bent down to open the drink. Fred stared at her breasts, and Adriana gazed back at him, her eyes widening.
Before anyone could guess, Adriana poured the whole drink on him. Dennis's eyes widened, and he was about to retaliate, but Fred stopped him.
"Nice boobs you got, by the way." Fred muttered.
Adriana smashed the bottle on his head, and it shattered. She was really pissed that her boss had made her serve them and that Fred was staring at her.
Adriana gave him the middle finger and walked out of the club. All eyes widened in shock. Had the almighty Fred just been trampled upon?

The lecturer had just left the class, and since Holly was the class minister, the lecturer had requested him. Stacy stood up from her seat and went to sit beside Sofia, who was arranging her bags.
"Where is your third wheel?" she asked.
"Who?" Sofia replied.
"C'mon, you already know who I'm talking about - Ara, of course," Stacy muttered, and Sofia gazed at her.
"And what about her?" Sofia asked.
"I'm just curious about where she is," Stacy said, and Sofia rolled her eyes.
"Where she is isn't any of your business," Sofia replied.
"Not like I also care about where she might be, I just want to be sure if she's finally out of the way so I can have Holly all to myself," Stacy said and stood up. She then walked towards Michelle.
"Do you have any idea where that dumb girl might be?" Michelle asked.
"With the way she spoke, I don't think she has any idea of where Ara might be. Maybe she's really gone for good, and let it be so," Stacy said.
"Then you would have Holly all to yourself," Michelle said, and Stacy chuckled.
"He's always mine, but because of Ara in my way, I just can't get him," Stacy said.
"Just pray she's gone for real," Michelle muttered.

The car screeched to a halt in front of Jenkins Empire, and Ara gazed at the mansion, it was so luxurious and beyond her expectations. She didn't want to come out of the car, she just held the hem of her gown tightly.
She didn't even know what her husband looked like, she just hoped he wouldn't be one of those old, wrinkly presidents.
"My lady, we've arrived," the driver's voice broke into her thoughts, and she nodded.
After being married, what awaited her? Wedding night, which she wasn't really prepared for, having kids!! and her college life... Though her mother had said he would further her education, but did that sound true?
She was going to have a husband who would control her day-to-day activities, she couldn't do anything without his permission, she had to be submissive. It looked like rendering her entire life to the devil to take control.
Her mother had said she should be a good wife, but she didn't even know how marriage worked, how was she to be a good wife when she hadn't been a good daughter to her parents, just like her parents would say?
The driver opened the door, and she reluctantly climbed out, the fresh air was the first thing that welcomed her. Now that she was seeing the exterior of the mansion, she believed that her husband would be one fûçking rich old man who would have everything under his control.
"My lady, this way," the driver said, and she reluctantly obeyed, they began walking, and as they walked deeper, Ara couldn't control the way her heart beat so madly.
She just couldn't explain why it was beating so fast; assuming she could look into the future, she would have done so, to know her fate.
The giant door opened, revealing Nanny Celia with some maids.
"Here comes the long-awaited bride," Nanny Celia said, and Ara was forced to release a thin smile.
"Come in, please," she said, and Ara stepped inside. She was awestruck when she saw the grandeur of the mansion, from the ribbon curve stairs to the high ceiling, then to the crystal chandeliers... She was still taking it all in when she saw someone descending the stairs.
His hand was tucked inside his baggy short trousers, his hair was a little bit messy, and his muscular chest and chiseled jawline were something to write home about.
Wait, don't tell me that's her husband! Her husband who missed his own wedding, her billionaire husband... She had thought he was going to be one of those old, wrinkly presidents with bad breath, but he was beyond her expectations.
But what gave him the damn guts to miss his own wedding, letting her recite the solo all to herself? Just what? Vesper stood at the bottom of the stairs and he scoffed when he saw her. He stared at her from head to toe.
"Don't tell me she's my little wife?" He asked, and Ara scoffed. Wait, what was he really expecting from a college student like her? Was he expecting some bootylicious, curvy woman? Well, she wasn't one of those.
"Not bad, wifey. How about we fulfill our wedding night, now?" He asked, and her eyes widened.
Wait, wedding what weeding!!?
