Chapter 6
Lycan Tristan's POV
I sat on the bed while the maids massaged my legs and my hair with oil.
The first time I saw Aurora, there was something about her that intrigued me so badly, and proposing to her at the party last night wasn't part of my plan. It just kinda happened.
“What madness was that?” Mother barged into my room.
“We should learn to knock,” with a wave of my hand, the maids picked up their things and left my room, “What madness are we talking about?”
“Why did you make such an announcement in front of everyone?” Mother scoffed and folded her hands across her chest.
“About my marriage?” I stood up, walked to the table, and poured wine into a cup for her, “I thought you would be happy that I was getting married?”
I handed Mother the wine, but she ignored it, and I kept it back on the table, “Yes, I'm happy that my son would finally be getting married, but to a mute? Hell no, I thought it would be Ava.”
“Ava?” I raised my left eyebrow, “Ava isn't bad; given the chance, I would marry her without any hesitation, but things are different now.”
“Then what is the issue? Why can't you marry her? What exactly is different?” Mother's curiosity piqued and I smirked.
I leaned near Mother's ear and whispered, “Life is boring and the mute seems like an interesting person.”
Aurora seems interesting; I still don't know how I was able to mind link with that girl; she means nothing to me at all.
Mother took a step back and I saw disappointment and anger in her eyes, “You are getting married to her because you are bored? That's not a reason to marry someone.”
I actually do have my reasons, but I can't share them with Mother, “You should start planning her wedding; I know for a fact that her family would be here before noon.”
“Have you forgotten the prophecy?” Mother mumbled to my hearing.
I shook my head, “I haven't forgotten the prophecy and I honestly don't think she is the one to make the prophecy come to pass.”
“I will hold you accountable,” Mother closed her eyes tight and opened it, “What about Ava?” Mother questioned, “She loves you.”
“I will do well to honor and treat her right,” I smiled, mother glared at me and left my room out of anger. Ava has been my best friend since we were children. She came as a slave but found favor in Mother's eyes.
“I just saw your Mom in the hallway,” Travis, my best friend, walked into the room.
“Me too, I just saw her,” I drank the wine in the cup I gave to my mother earlier.
“Tristan, I have one question,” Travis dragged out a chair and sat on it.
“Shoot,” I passed him a cup of wine.
“Why did you propose marriage to that girl? One, she isn't your type, and two, this matter wouldn't benefit you in any way,” Travis drank his wine, “I thought you would end up with that other woman,” Travis snickered.
For some reason, Travis hated Ava, and Ava hated him too, but I never interfered in their matters.
“Look, the real reason I want to marry her is because..” I paused when someone knocked on my door, “What?!!” I yelled.
“Lycan, Sir Saint is here to see you; I have left him in the visiting room,” My irritation turned into surprise. I knew he would come but I didn't think he would come so soon.
“Let him know his future son-in-law is on the way,” Amusement sparked within me, “I should go get ready.”
“Tristan, that girl seems fragile and innocent. I don't know what you are up to, but you should be careful,” Travis advised; I nodded my head and went to the visiting room.
“I didn't expect you to come this soon after talking to me the way you seemed fit at yesterday's event,” I sat opposite Saint, “So what do I owe this visit?”
“Yesterday, you announced in front of everyone you want to marry my daughter, how serious were you?” Aurora's dad asked, his face and voice held so much concern for his daughter.
“I was and I still am serious about marrying Aurora,” I smiled.
Mr Saint held a serious expression, “Why do you want to marry her?”
I couldn't say the reason; he wouldn't allow his daughter to marry me, and I wouldn't want to use force either, “I have committed a grave sin by falling for her when she was still married.”
Mr Saint let out a deep breath, “I will arrange the marriage as soon as possible.”
Something didn't seem right; he seemed like he was in a hurry for the marriage, but why was that? “What is the exact reason you want to marry your daughter off immediately? I know it's not politics.”
“I have gotten my daughter married for politics once, and I would never do that again; I want someone who truly loves my daughter so she can be protected and respected. Can you do that?” Mr Saint's eyes soften.
I avoided his gaze, “Yes, I can do that,” I didn't lie; I could protect and respect her, but I didn't love her.
“I hope I am doing the right thing by trusting you? If you ever hurt her, I will forget your position as Lycan and hunt you down,” Mr Saint threatened with a serious expression on his face.
“Does your daughter come from any forbidden bloodline or lineage by the packs?” I needed to make sure the prophecy didn't come to pass.
Mr Saint looked like he was searching his Brain for what to say, “That's impossible,” He smiled, “Aurora is from my bloodline so how can you ask that question.”
“What of her Mother?” I had never heard of Aurora's Mother, and I needed to clear my own Mother's head.
“Aurora's Mother was also from my pack, but she is late now, someone killed her,” Mr Saint's voice lowered, and I immediately felt bad for asking such a question.
“I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked that,” I apologized.
“It's no problem, we will be related soon,” He stood up, “I will set the wedding date and it will be on the evening paper so everyone can see.”
“Sure
,” I stood up with a smile on my face, “I will make it the biggest wedding in history.”
