Chapter 6
Noah was taken aback, his face reddening. Any fool who has been in society would know what it means to fight with their clothes off!
“Dorothy, what nonsense are you talking about?”
Dorothy wore a look of astonishment.
“I’m not speaking nonsense. Mason said he liked Mia, not me. I was so heartbroken that I cannot breathe, so I swallowed a few sleeping pills. I didn't expect to almost die…”
Tears streamed down Dorothy's face as she spoke with earnestness.
“Dad, I’ll listen to you from now on. I won’t like him anymore. I’ll give him to Mia.”
Noah felt a painful ache in his chest. He had always thought his daughter's suicide attempt had been due to her immaturity, but he hadn't expected it to stem from such a backstory.
“Mia, what's going on? Haven’t you repeatedly assured me that there's nothing between you and Mason?”
Mia blinked, and then knelt down in front of Noah with a thud.
“Dad, it's not my fault. Mason kept pestering me. I told him not to let Dorothy down…”
“So what does Dorothy mean? Is she wrong about what she saw with her own eyes?”
“That day Mason drank too much and confessed his love for me. I struggled with him and it was only when other students arrived that I was saved. I did not tell Dorothy this out of fear of hurting her emotions, Dad, I swear…”
Noah felt a headache coming on due to the argument and waved his hand, his face pale.
“Enough!”
Dorothy sneered. She didn't even want to deal with people likes of Mia.
"Scum men and bitches, they'll never come to a good end."
Michael squinted his eyes. All eyes were drawn to the suit on Dorothy's body.
The insignia on it wasn't something found in ordinary bars. This meant the girl was lying!
Thinking of this, Michael felt a slight itch in his hand, but the immediate priority was to deal with that weakling's matter.
"If that's the case, let's keep family matters within the family. Let's arrange the marriage between Mia and Mason. Not only can we save face, but we would also take responsibility for Mia. Run off after sleeping with him? Is it that easy?"
Hearing the same words from Michael's mouth, Dorothy had a bad feeling.
Noah looked at Mia. Mia wanted to refuse, but she also knew that this wasn't the right time.
She'd wait for her mother to come back. As long as her mother came back, it would be fine. Let's see how Dorothy behaves then!
Noah nodded.
"Alright then, let's temporarily agree to this. Once I've finished my current projects, I'll bring Mason to ask him about it. Do you two understand you can't meet Mason during this time?"
Dorothy pouted.
"That trash is so dirty, I wouldn't even bother making him shine my shoes. I won't go looking for him."
Mia lowered her head, clenched her teeth, and kept twisting her fingers. In her mind, she cussed out Dorothy's ancestors for eighteen generations.
Her words were always filled with insults. Didn't she hear that Michael just proposed her engagement to that piece of trash?
Dorothy was clearly attempting to disgrace her—she was doing it on purpose!
Noah is having a severe headache.
"Alright, alright, you guys can get out now. We can talk about the engagement later. I can't make the decision on my own, we'll wait for your Aunt Grace to come back."
Dorothy didn't care much. Once Mia's mother returned, she guessed the engagement would probably be called off.
However, it didn't matter. The underhand assault this time was a wake-up call for Mia and her mother, showing them who was the master of this house!
The siblings left one after the other.
Watching the two depart, Mia's fingernails almost ripped her palm.
This damn woman, why did she come back to life? She clearly saw her die!
Fine, Dorothy, since you have the guts to live once more, she was not afraid to kill her again.
