The silence between Morgan and I is thick, heavy with what we can’t say. His words just now, “For us,” ring in my ears like a drumbeat, steady and far away. There’s a part of me that wants to dismiss them, to say, “Oh no, they’re just this passing thing” when deep down I know he’s more than he’s letting on.
I look up at him, his silver eyes solid, unshaken. There’s an intensity about his gaze, yet there’s something so un-nameable when I look into it — an un-nameable emotion It rattles me more than I’d like to admit.
