Chapter 3 Taken Away by a Luxury Car

Samuel ended the call and immediately dialed his assistant. "Where is Giada?" "Mr. Connor, Ms. Bensone just left the villa with a suitcase." Samuel had anticipated she'd leave, but not so quickly. Shot and injured—where could she possibly go? "Did she say where she was going?" "No. However, she was picked up by a luxury car worth millions. The man who arrived was very attractive and seemed extremely wealthy." A cold, icy expression overtook Samuel's face. He slowly placed the phone down, trying to appear unaffected. Picked up by a luxury car right after our divorce—she clearly never cares about me. That is the only explanation for her cold and decisive betrayal. Giada, so this is how it is, huh? ... Giada was picked up by her older brother and taken back to Newburn's most extravagant property, Dominion Estate. He had to leave for work shortly after. He didn't even know about her being shot. She lay on the soft bed, the familiar surroundings reminding her how long it had been since she'd been here. She couldn't hold on any longer. Her face was pale, beads of sweat rolling down her forehead. The sharp pain from the bullet wound, combined with the ache in her chest, made it feel as if she couldn't bear it any longer. She lay weakly, her eyelids fluttering before she closed her eyes. She couldn't understand how two people who had once loved each other could simply fall apart. Her mind drifted back through the memories of the past four years with Samuel—the tenderness in his eyes that no longer had anything to do with her. The pain in her chest felt like it was tearing her apart. She had believed that love like theirs would never fade. Her decision to divorce had come from one thing—she was pregnant. But Samuel had eyes everywhere. She absolutely couldn't let him find out she's pregnant. After being shot, she had removed the bullet on her own. She couldn't afford anesthesia—it could harm the baby. Giada thought about the promise she made to her grandfather and made the decision to return home and take over the family business. She was finally letting go of this relationship. It was time to go back to where she belonged, to become Giada Baron once more. ... A month later. The sun shone brightly in early autumn. Giada's injuries had healed. She stepped out of Dominion Estate. Wearing sunglasses, she squinted against the bright sunlight, her eyes gleaming with a deep, satisfied smile. A month had passed since she'd been here without any contact from the outside world. She wore a bold, fiery red blazer, her lips painted with a striking shade of red, and a carefree, confident smile. She climbed into a luxury car parked on the side of the road and headed toward Connor Enterprise to collect her belongings. At Connor Enterprise. As she opened the car door, she came face to face with Samuel, who was just about to leave. He was with the gentle, composed Tilda. The soft, affectionate gaze Samuel gave Tilda struck Giada like a knife. Her hand, which had been hanging by her side, suddenly clenched into a fist without her even realizing it. Tilda noticed Giada, surprised to see her again. But her expression remained calm, and she greeted Giada with a teasing smile. "Ms. Giada, it's been a while!" she said, her voice dripping with insincerity. Giada ignored her. Samuel gave Giada a half-smirk, his gaze briefly flicking to the luxury car parked behind her, clearly worth millions. Their eyes locked, and Samuel's piercing gaze lingered for a moment on her shoulder. He smiled coldly, his eyes flashing with disdain. "Ms. Giada, you really are something. Shot and still alive, huh?" Giada felt another stab of pain in her heart. The wound had never healed—it only seemed to worsen. "Sorry, I didn't die. I hope I didn't disappoint you. I'm just here to collect my things, and then I'll be gone." Samuel's eyes grew colder, his malice growing more evident as he stared at her. "Giada, no wonder you wanted a clean break when we divorced. Turns out you've already found a new boyfriend. How shameless." Another sharp pain pierced her heart as she looked at him. His twisted, malicious grin cutting through her. "Mr. Connor, you're the one who cheated while we were married, and yet you think you have the right to say anything to me?" Giada ignored both of them and walked toward Connor Enterprise. Suddenly, Samuel's angry voice rang out behind her. "Giada, stop!"
