Chapter 4

He was impatiently opening the cupboards, wardrobes only to confirm that she was really gone, only leaving a letter for him. He held the letter in his hand and started reading it with frowned eyes. ‘ Dear husband, I tried, but, I failed. I tried again, I failed again. However, I didn't give up, I continued trying and giving our marriage a chance. It took me two years to realize that we are not made for each other. I'm extremely sorry to be a burden on you for all these years. But, now, I'm freeing you from this unwanted bond. By the way, I'm leaving a girl behind me, she is excellent at taking care of homes, she will take care of your home from now, but please don't forget to give her her salary, okay? Goodbye, hope after separating from me, you will find your true love. - Your Ex-wife ’ His hands started trembling after reading the letter, his expression darkened. He clenched the letter in his fist and threw it away. He loosened his tie as he was worried, where could she go? She was a stranger in this city? Everything was new to her, she didn't understand the language ' Hindi ' too well. More importantly, she was illiterate, how could she write so well in the letter? Could it be that she made someone write this letter for her? He pulled his hair in anger as he was so disturbed, he couldn't think of anything, what was going with her? Why did she leave him? Where did she go? After wasting fifteen minutes only on his calculations, he dialed a number, the phone was soon picked up “ Hello, Naksh, I'm giving you 24 hours, and I want you to find her, understand? ” he shouted angrily without even listening to him. Naksh looked at the caller id only for being sure that it was Krish who called him, because he never lost his temper on his employees, but what was wrong with him now that he even shouted at his most trusted security officer. “ Is that clear? ” he yelled again. “ Of course, sir, but can you tell me whom do you wanna look for? ” asked Naksh while he bit his lips, what should he say now? “ I, I.. I'm looking for my personal maid, it doesn't matter, just do what I said ” he replied. “ Okay sir, just send her picture to me and I'll report her location to you within few minutes,” Naksh said with confidence while Krish's eyebrows twitched. “ Picture..? ” he muttered as, after all these years of married life, he didn't have a single picture of his wife. He pursed his lips and started checking her room once again, this time for by chance finding her picture, however, he didn't find a single item that belongs to her. He pursed his lips and said, “ I... I don't have her picture, ” “ Oh, now, It will be a little bit difficult to find her, but can you tell me her name or something, I'll report you within few hours, ” said Naksh with confidence lesser than before. However, Krish frowned, his forehead wrinkled and he clenched his fists in anger, he was angry at himself because after living two years with his wife, he didn't even know his wife's name. How pathetic the life she was living that her husband didn't even know her name? At this moment, he wanted to give himself a hard slap for being a pervert all those time, but he then rushed to the dustbin where he had thrown the letter and then scrolled his fingers to the last sentence where he read ' Your Ex-wife ', his heart ached as he couldn't find his wife's name in the letter, and even find those words mocking at him that she was considering herself as his 'Ex Wife'. “ I.. I don't know her name.. ” he replied. “ Ohh.. Now... ” Naksh was hesitating to say anything, how could he find someone with no name, no background. However, Krish blurted out “ I know her figure, her face... Call a drawing artist and I'll make him draw her figure, then you will get his picture, right? ” “ Awesome! Then I'll call an artist tomorrow, Have a good night, Mr. Goenka ” said Naksh and he hang up the phone. He fell to her bed glaring at the ceiling and thinking about the day when he met her. He had gone to Assam, a northeastern state of India, to expand his business there. On his way back to Delhi, Kartik, his closest friend, suggested him to come back alone, leaving his guards and their positions of CEO on holiday and live a normal life for a day. He wanted him to cheer up and live a carefree day with him, however, his plan backstab him as their car got punctured on the highways. It was a hilly area where the network was down, they couldn't find the mechanic or call their guards, luckily, they saw nomad's tents where Kuki tribes were celebrating their festival. Kartik insisted him to join them and spent the night there, but both of them got drunk and Krish ended up with the daughter of Tribe head. When he came back to his sense he was already married to her with their weird culture and had to take care of his wife. He was mad at Kartik to make him stuck with an illiterate, down class girl. He couldn't accept her as his wife, neither can tell anyone that he had married to a tribe girl who had nothing special in her. In his way back to Delhi, he instantly bought this apartment, that was easily available that time as he couldn't bring her to his home and make a fool of himself. He then caged her in this apartment thinking that she will live her life happily there, and would not find out that he was actually ashamed of her being his wife. He was guilty that he ruined his innocence, but still he was not ready to accept her as his wife, yet he didn't want to hurt her by saying so. So, he did what he thought was right at that time. But now, it seems like it was not enough for her. Did he wrong her? Was he treating her badly? But, she didn't tell him anything? Shouldn't she discuss it with him before leaving him? Was he that bad that she didn't even think of telling him in person before leaving that she only left a note for him?
