Celeste barely remembered the drive home. The city lights had blurred past her, neon reflections casting ghostly shapes against the glass of the cab window. Even as the streets changed, her mind remained trapped in that lounge, in the space where Dominic’s voice had slid over her skin like silk and steel.
The moment she shut her apartment door behind her, she sagged against it, dragging in a deep, shaky breath. Her chest rose and fell in erratic waves, the adrenaline still coursing through her veins like an electric current that refused to fade. She squeezed her eyes shut, pressing the cool wood against her overheated skin.
