They made their way down into the Undergloom at sundown. Kael went first, unlit, his glowing hands like faint embers as the runes on his palms, old sigils from a dead language, pulsed with starlight veins under his skin, illuminating the darkness. The corridor grew smaller the further in they walked, the air heavy with the smells of minerals, wet stone, and rot. Every step rang off walls cut long before any kingdom came to be.
