Chapter 2 Aurora Sinclair's Job Search And Dilemma
The HR respectfully presented Aurora Sinclair's resume to the man, wearing a professional smile and saying deferentially, "BOSS, this lady is an outstanding talent who has won the Starry International Design Award. She has just signed a contract with our company." However, the man didn't even glance at it and showed no intention of reaching out to take the resume.
"Where have you been all these years?" Ryan Miller's gaze was intense as he stared closely at the woman in front of him, whom he hadn't seen for four years. She was even more radiant than he remembered. Compared to the green and shy novice designer he first met, or the haggard and emaciated woman when they divorced, she now exuded an indescribable unique charm that was hard to fathom.
Aurora Sinclair's hands clenched involuntarily, her fingernails digging deep into her palms. The sharp pain helped her calm down a bit. She replied in a cold voice, without a trace of warmth, "This has nothing to do with you, Mr. Miller. I just learned that this is Mr. Miller's company. I'm really sorry, but I don't want to consider your company anymore."
The HR was filled with astonishment. His eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at her and hastily said, "Ms. Sinclair, but the contract has already been signed!"
"It's just an employment contract, not a slavery contract." Aurora Sinclair rose from her seat, not sparing a single glance at Ryan Miller. She turned to leave. But in a flash, Ryan Miller reached out and firmly grasped her wrist, preventing her from moving. "Aurora Sinclair, I'm afraid you haven't carefully read the contract. If you breach the contract, the compensation you need to pay is no small amount. I advise you to think it over carefully."
A cold glint flickered in Aurora Sinclair's eyes, and a sarcastic smile tugged at the corner of her mouth. "Mr. Miller is so wealthy. Does he still need to demand compensation from a little designer like me? I thought you couldn't wait for me to disappear from your sight immediately."
Ryan Miller was slightly taken aback, and his brows furrowed unconsciously. In just four years, how had this woman, who used to be as meek as a lamb and even somewhat obsequious in front of him, become so unfamiliar and stubborn?
"Virtue Company has always been open to outstanding talents." Ryan Miller released her wrist, turned his head slightly, and shifted his gaze away. "Regarding the contract, I still hope you'll consider it carefully."
"No need." Aurora Sinclair quickly scanned the contract, then took out her phone and skillfully opened the transfer interface of the bank APP. Her fingers rapidly typed a series of numbers on the screen. She inwardly cursed her overly good memory. After all these years, his bank card number, ID number, and phone number were still deeply engraved in her mind, haunting her.
Ryan Miller's phone suddenly emitted a notification sound. He frowned slightly and opened the transfer text message. The moment he saw the content, the chill in his eyes deepened, as if it could freeze the surrounding air. How dare she do this!
"The money has been transferred to Mr. Miller. Can I leave now?" Aurora Sinclair picked up her resume, forcefully pushed the man in front of her away, and without hesitation, turned around and strode out of the venue.
"Wow, was that the president of Miller Group just now? He's so handsome!" The whispers of several girls reached Aurora Sinclair's ears. She furrowed her brows and was about to leave when she heard another girl sneer disdainfully, "Stop daydreaming! I heard that Mr. Miller's child is already old enough to play around."
He has a child? Aurora Sinclair's steps suddenly froze, and her body stiffened slightly. Then, she self - deprecatingly tugged at the corner of her mouth. Yes, since she had left, he must have been eager to marry Sofia Moretti into the family. It was only natural for them to have a child. Why should she be surprised?
As soon as Aurora Sinclair returned home, she heard an excited scream from the living room: "Ah! Godson! How can you be so cute!"
"Emily godmother is so beautiful and cute~"
Emily Taylor's eyes sparkled as she looked at Little Cutie, her face full of affection. Hearing the door open, she looked up in surprise and shouted excitedly, "Aurora! Give me your son! I'm completely charmed by him!"
"I thought you came to visit me, but it turns out you're here for my son." Aurora Sinclair glanced at Little Cutie beside her subtly, then lowered her voice and told Emily Taylor in detail what had happened at the recruitment fair.
"It's okay. You're Designer Sinclair. Are you worried about not being wanted by companies? You were the most outstanding in our class back then. I'll ask some companies I'm familiar with for you." Emily Taylor patted Aurora Sinclair on the shoulder, trying to comfort her.
"Thank you, Emily." Aurora Sinclair gently tucked her hair behind her ear and hugged her best friend in return, saying gratefully, "I'm so lucky to have you."
"Mommy, Dodo wants a hug too." Eric Sinclair toddled over to the two of them on his short legs, stretching out his arms and asking for a hug in a sweet voice. His adorable appearance made the two adults burst into laughter. Aurora Sinclair picked Little Cutie up and placed him on her lap, watching as Emily Taylor picked up her phone and walked towards the balcony.
"Aurora... come out for a moment."
"What's wrong?" Aurora Sinclair put Little Cutie down and followed Emily Taylor to the balcony. Emily Taylor's brows were knitted tightly, and she let out a worried sigh. "Your ex - husband... he's blacklisted you. I've contacted almost all the fashion design companies in Nova City, and none of them dares to hire you. And they all hinted that I should persuade you to yield to Ryan Miller and work at Virtue Company."
Aurora Sinclair's eyes instantly turned cold and resolute. She didn't notice at all that a small, black head peeked out from behind the curtain for a moment and then quickly withdrew.
"Aurora..." Worry filled Emily Taylor's eyes. "What are you going to do?"
"Don't worry." Aurora Sinclair's eyes sparkled, and a calm smile returned to her face. She nonchalantly took Emily Taylor's arm and said, "Let's go have dinner first. I'm starving. Today, your precious godson is treating us. Let's go have a big meal!"
