Chapter 11 Blood-red Coffin
Joel clenched his fists, the burning jealousy almost consumed him entirely.
This d*mn b*tch! He seethed inwardly.
Meanwhile ...
Ryan stood up.
It was abrupt.
Unexpected.
Almost baffling.
With nearly everyone in the hall watching Ryan, whether intentionally or not, all eyes were on him as soon as he stood.
Joel's expression shifted slightly, his gaze turning dangerous. "Ryan, what are you up to?"
Logan, already anticipating trouble, quickly communicated through his wireless earpiece with the Kanes' bodyguards to prevent any disruption.
"How could I possibly come empty-handed to Mr. Joel and Ms. Xander's wedding?" Ryan said with a grin. "Of course, I must bring a gift."
At his words, many faces in the hall shifted slightly, puzzled.
A gift? Sure, it's customary to give one for a wedding.
But most people opt for cash gifts, and even those with special presents typically deliver them before or after the ceremony. Who interrupts the wedding like this?
Abigail bit her crimson lip. It wasn't the gift or the timing that bothered her, it was the way Ryan addressed her as "Ms. Xander." It made her heart ache even more, as if it was bleeding.
She longed to hear him call her by her first name.
"Hahaha ... Dude, how thoughtful of you! What kind of gift is it?" Joel laughed heartily, clearly in high spirits.
He assumed Ryan had finally come to his senses, recognizing the danger he was in and deciding to present a grand gift to curry favor and save his life.
Smart.
Cooperative.
So then, what kind of gift could it be?!
The answer to Joel's question came in the form of a resounding thud.
The sound was deep and heavy, reverberating through the hall and making the floor tremble slightly.
Before Ryan stood a coffin.
A blood-red coffin. It's 20 feet long, 10 feet wide, and 13 feet tall—far larger than any ordinary coffin.
The blood-red color was dazzling, truly shocking. To have a coffin appear on such a joyous wedding day? The impact was unimaginable, as if a truck had suddenly crashed into everyone's minds.
The shock was so overwhelming, so unbelievable, that most people in the room overlooked one crucial detail: Where had this coffin even come from?
Ryan had walked in empty-handed. So how, in the blink of an eye, had he produced a coffin, and one this massive?
In fact, the coffin had come from Ryan's mysterious ring.
According to the old man, this ring was likely the only one of its kind left in all of Celestia.
When he passed it on to Ryan, it wasn't just a gift—it was a legacy. Ryan was his student, his only student, entrusted to care for him in his old age, to carry on his teachings in medicine and martial arts ...
The entire hall fell silent.
Utterly still.
So quiet, it felt as though even the sound of heartbeats had vanished.
One by one, many people rose to their feet, their scalps tingling as if about to burst.
Even Cindy was stunned.
"This coffin should be big enough to hold all 13 members of the Kanes' main family, right?" Ryan said calmly, breaking the silence. His tone was light and steady, devoid of hatred, anger, or even a trace of malice.
"Little b*stard, you're asking for death!" After what felt like an eternity, Logan finally roared, his face flushed with rage, his entire body shaking. He raised his hand, pointing at Ryan, and shouted, "Bodyguards, kill him! Kill him now!
"This d*mn b*stard deserves to die a thousand times over! Dad, I'm going to tear him to pieces and burn his bones!" Joel's face was just as red, his anger so intense it nearly made him choke on his own fury.
A grand wedding had been ruined by a coffin appearing in the middle of it. What kind of bad luck was this?
Even if they killed Ryan, it wouldn't begin to satisfy their rage.
Joel glared at Ryan with such intensity that it seemed he wanted to swallow him whole. His eyes were tinged with red, filled with hatred to the very core.
Abigail, standing nearby, nearly fainted. Ryan had actually ... brought a coffin. This was a declaration of war against the Kanes, an irreparable break!
With the coffin here, there was no way she could save Ryan. The Kanes would never let him live.
Ryan was as good as dead.
"Daughter, if he's asking for death, he'll get it ... Sigh ... " Linda whispered softly to Abigail, unsure of what else to say.
On the day of the wedding, bringing a coffin—she had seen people court death before, but never in such an audacious manner.
Forget the Kanes, even the Xanders wouldn't let Ryan off the hook!
Meanwhile ...
Bang, bang, bang ...
The sound of footsteps echoed, growing louder. The Kanes' bodyguards were arriving. There were at least a hundred of them gathered at the scene.
The people who had been acting as servers moments before now exuded a chilling aura. Their entire demeanor had shifted, radiating coldness as their eyes locked onto Ryan. One by one, they drew out their hidden batons.
They charged toward him, surrounding him from all directions, trapping him with no escape.
"Too impulsive," Axel said with indifference. "Although he's ruined the wedding, his life will end here. The blood feud of a family is not something that can be forgotten. But revenge must be planned carefully. This young man is still too young."
Axel barely glanced at Ryan, his gaze tinged with disdain.
