Chapter 6 Fantastic Opportunity
Claudia's POV:
"Here, take a look at this," Liam handed me a folder.
Curious, I opened it and took a glance. My voice wavered in surprise. "This is the contract with the Nielsons?"
Liam replied casually, "It's your wedding gift."
I gasped, "You plan to hand this contract to the Nielsons?"
"Yes."
In that instant, I understood Liam's intention.
He had done his research and knew that I was the true heir of the Nielson family, not the impostor who had been pushing me around. By giving me this contract, he would make Steven and Hannah see me in a new light.
Although Liam appeared cold and exuded an intimidating presence, he was genuinely kind to me.
I lowered my head, unable to lift it for a while.
Liam asked, "What's wrong?"
"I'm just ... so moved!" I wiped away my tears. "Sir, you're the best person in the world to me!"
Liam smiled lightly. "Because you're my wife."
His deep black eyes seemed to pierce through to the very core of a person.
I felt my face flush slowly.
Afterward, I went through the interview process at Sandy Group and was officially hired as an intern for the duration of a holiday.
I spent the day with Liam at the company, and after finishing work, we went for dinner before heading back to Nielson Residence.
Jenny's POV:
The atmosphere at home was tense.
Once I returned, I told Steven and Hannah about Eric being kicked out of Sandy Group.
At first, they didn't believe me.
It wasn't until ten minutes ago when they received confirmation that it was true.
Sandy Group had announced that they were severing all ties with the Yorks starting today, halting all ongoing projects.
"How could this happen? Isn't Sandy Group afraid of angering the Yorks?" Hannah muttered in disbelief.
Steven sneered, "They must have some stronger force behind them. No company in Eastmoore would dare disrespect the Yorks like this. Who's behind them? I'll need to ask my contacts."
With that, Steven went to his study to make a call.
Hannah and I exchanged looks.
I felt a sense of dread creeping over me.
In my mind, the Yorks were the biggest mafia force in Eastmoore.
Which family could be behind Sandy Group, bold enough to cut ties with the Yorks like this?
Not long after, Steven walked out of the study with a complicated expression.
At the same time, the TV was broadcasting financial news, with a glamorous anchor speaking clearly: "Recently, Sandy Group announced an investment of 150 million dollars in Eastmoore, focusing on the redevelopment of the old district, with a public tender for the project... "
Steven quickly grabbed the remote and turned the volume up.
Upon hearing "150 million dollars," his excitement was so intense it seemed his face would twitch.
"Haha! This is fantastic! Our family's opportunity has finally arrived!"
Hannah was confused. "What opportunity?"
"Of course, the chance to work with Sandy Group! My contact told me that Sandy Group is backed by one of the five major families in Nythoria, the Townsends. We've been trying to negotiate a new partnership with them, but haven't found the right moment yet." Steven stared at the TV greedily. "This is a 150 million dollar project! Even if we're just involved a little, we'll make a huge profit!"
At the same time, powerful families in Eastmoore were also tuning into the news, all eager to get a piece of the pie.
Just then, Claudia came home.
Didn't Claudia say she worked at Sandy Group?
I certainly didn't believe she could get a job there.
However, if I emphasized that she could help the family at this moment, it would just be to highlight that she was still the same annoying, cowardly country girl who couldn't do anything.
Steven would surely grow to despise her even more.
I smiled and said, "Dad, Mom, you haven't heard, have you? Claudia says she works at Sandy Group!"
"What?" Steven and Hannah exclaimed.
"Claudia, you work at Sandy Group? Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Hannah asked in surprise.
Claudia replied, "I just work as a cleaner at Sandy Group."
Of course, hearing that Claudia was just a cleaner made Hannah's face instantly darkened.
"You're embarrassing me! After all that schooling, and you're just a cleaner? How can you be so useless?"
