Chapter 53 Golden Blood

Time passed in a whirl. She left at once, numb and in shock, to the hospital. Before that, Josh made her change into something more sensible; a pair of jeans and a hoodie he had thoughtfully picked up from his meagre wardrobe. She obeyed him like a child, changing in the girl’s room. Some of the girls who had dropped by for a smoke and heard the news, looked at her and then looked away quickly, sympathetically. But Roxanne was oblivious ot it all. “How did it happen?” she whispered through stiff lips as Josh drove her to the tiny hospital that was bang in the centre of the town, a small place with just two doctors and a couple of ageing nurses on hand. She was sitting behind Josh on his bike and he said nothing as they weaved their way along the deserted streets.
