Roxanne had instinctively hated this man. Snake with the lascivious eyes that seemed to strip her every time he met her, which was, thankfully enough, not frequent. Luckily, she had not seen him for a long while now, for Van Dyke kept her away from any guests who happened to turn up at his house. She had heard the muffled sounds of laughter and guests, but she was always locked away in her little room upstairs.
