The wind roared around them, rising in strength as if the very air was coming alive with fury. Lyra’s heart pounded in her chest as she glanced at Kylan, Ryan, and Kellan. Their faces were tense, their bodies braced against the rising gale, and she could see the same uncertainty in their eyes that she felt gnawing at her insides. The wind guardian raised his arms, and the sky darkened above them. Clouds swirled, thickening into a storm that crackled with flashes of lightning. The air grew colder, and the ground beneath their feet trembled as the wind howled, sending stones skittering across the plateau.
