Chapter 6

" I don't know. You haven't done it yet. What are you afraid of?". Hearing Ember's cold voice made me think about what had gotten her to be this tough in getting back at me. Well, I couldn't blame her she wanted to end things about us all of a sudden because of what happened inside the ward but for her to act this whole time around seems foreign to me. Her emotions were fueled up by all the heartaches. She sounded so serious that I wanted to deny it for myself. I started to feel wary and nervous when reality almost hit me. She's not fooling around to act this long and that bothers me a lot yet our bonds are more established now after claiming her and we're in our fifth year of marriage. How can she waste those tight bonds between our wolves, both for Alpha and Omega? To be apart from anyone will be hard for us to bear. For Ember, it's tormenting her that she got fed up with anger but even that's the reason, in our short time of being away from each other feels like she completely altered into another person like I didn't know her anymore. Her cold voice and actions bother me the most. I know that I broke my promise that I would love her no matter what even if my fated mate appeared. I began to neglect my wife after I found my destined mate Kate. I also persuaded Ember to donate her kidney to her without hearing her side and it's the final blow to her to explode like that. She lost hope and decided to hide all of her grievances and decided to leave the pack without asking me how we could sort it out. This won't be a bigger issue for both of us but she chose to insist on rejecting me and I couldn't blame her. It's my fault. I made a huge mistake but she still, misbehaved and disrespected me as her Alpha which isn't like her. Now, I'll show her what she deserves and that is my way of retribution. I'll make sure that she will regret this and she can't get away with it. " Okay, let's make it official. I, Alpha Paris of The Black Shadow Packs reject you as my chosen mate and Luna, Omega Ember." I denounced her as my mate while I held back the pain inside me slowly falling apart. I just want to get back to her to teach her a lesson. " I accept your rejection". I grasped my hands after hearing her words. So this is it, the reality. It's all over for both of us. There's a tension going on inside my veins and an uncomfortable sensation building up inside me. I could feel how my wolf Phoenix got weaker too. I could feel his pain ripping inside my chest as our bonds ended. My hands trembled as I clasped them trying to take a deep breath. I want to correct my mistakes. I want to fix things for both of us. " Wait, I want to tell you about Kate. She--", I couldn't get through when she cut me off. " Now that we severed our bonds, there's no need for you to explain everything. Mind your affairs." Her voice was firm and fixed. I was thinking what did I do wrong with my plan? " Hoping not to see you again". Ember said and hung up. I didn't realize that the result didn't go according to my plan. She gave up on me so easily without regrets. Ember easily accepted my rejection and answered without hesitation. She's so calm in her every answer. She didn't even crawl back to me and beg me not to reject her. I took a deep sigh in dismay. I should have felt relieved this time because we were not mates anymore. Our bonds ended and I should be happy about it because I can announce Kate as my fated mate but why do I feel so down and lonely? My thoughts were fed up with my wife's cold rejection when I didn't notice that our maid was standing in front of me with a bowl of soup. " Sir, it's very late. Here is the soup your mom told me to prepare. She said this is one of your favorites." She said and put the bowl on the table. The maid was right. I check my watch and it's almost ten in the evening. " Urghh! What kind of taste is this?", I yelled after throwing the ball on the table. The maid startles until the first maid comes to rescue her. " Sir, Paris, I'm sorry. She's new since I couldn't cook because my right hand was injured. Miss Ember always does the cooking when she's around." She told me and I was surprised. " What? You mean my wife cooks meals every day? I thought mom does?". I asked the first maid but she denied it. " No, Alpha. She's the one who orders your wife to cook for everyone." I stood up and lost my appetite. " Clean it now! I don't feel like eating." I decided to go to my study room when one of my Zeta bodyguards who gave me the divorce paper my wife's friend left came to tell me about an invitation letter. " Sir, I almost forgot that I received a red envelope. It says it's an invitation letter from the Lycan King. I left it in your study room". He said and I called the new maid to get it. " Sir, I--I guess I lost it. I mean--", the new slave in training said, so I called our first maid. " Did you hire a clueless Omega slave?" My voice roared. The first maid bowed her head and asked for my forgiveness. "My apologies, my Lord but Miss Ember was the one who always does to tidy up your library. I was too preoccupied with household chores since she left. I'm sorry but this new slave didn't know how to write and read so maybe she threw it away by mistake. I promise to dig everything to find the letter. " She quickly made a bow and left the study room. I can't even imagine how everyone in this house turned to mess artery wife's absence. Did Ember have so much work to do inside the mansion after a year of my absence? I don't want to pass this incident. I must go to the kitchen to confirm it to the head maid. When I passed the corridor and reached the kitchen, I saw her having a hard time cleaning the stove. " How dare you send an illiterate Omega slave in this house?". I had too much on my mind and this new Omega slave had me enough. " My apologies, my Alpha. Miss Ember was gone so I had to do many duties inside the house. It's my fault for delegating their jobs carelessly." She kept on bowing her head and anxiously kneeled on the floor to beg not to punish her. I couldn't believe that Ember was the one doing almost the household in the mansion like a slave. She's supposed to be my Luna and not another Omega slave. I never thought that she sacrificed so much for this family. My head was tired so I decided to visit our bedroom. I closed my eyes and her scent was like fresh lilies enveloping my nostrils. Ember's smell was so special that still lingers inside the whole room even though she was not around. It's addicting and fulfilling to smell it over and over again as if she was beside me. It's all left of her, her fragrance. I pressed my back against the mattress and started to gaze at the ceiling. The feeling of wanting her made me reminisce about the remnants of our first night. I carried her delicately on the bed buried my face in her neck nibbling my lips down her chest. The moment our skin touched made my wolf desire ignite to claim her. Ember looks so beautiful and innocent. Her smile, her jade eyes, her skin so soft and smooth, and her lips so enticing that I don't want to share with anyone but me, her Alpha myself. As our body heated, I heard her whisper next to my ears. " Claim me, my Alpha. Mark me anywhere you want!". Her mesmerizing voice made me want her over and over again. Throughout the night of embarrassment, that didn't matter with our unconditional love. " Please, Alpha Paris, take me". And so I did. I marked her on our first night. I opened my eyes and traveled my hands on the mattress. I stop at the left side of the bed where she sleeps next to me. She always nags me to stay facing her side because she loves to see me sleeping. I simply smiled to think how we were so intimate back then on this bed. Those small chit-chats we shared during the nights we couldn't sleep and how we teased each other by throwing pillows on our faces. I realized how special this woman was to me. Being apart from her for a year made me wonder how she got through sleeping on her most lonely nights when I was in Kate's bed. When she waited for me to come home even though there was no assurance that I'd come her eyes turned heavy and she began to fall asleep out of slumber while I was sleeping soundly with my fated mate. " Why did I let you go?", I asked myself. I was so indulged in my ex-mate memories when Cristina appeared at the door. I instantly got up and crossed my brows. " Did I interrupt you, brother?". There's something in her tone. I can sense that she has come for a reason. I shook my head and asked her what she wanted. She came in with a smile while her hands were holding a red envelope. I just remembered that I left it on the table downstairs. " Did the Lycan King send this to you?", she asked me as she excitedly showed it on my face. I was not in the mood to go when my mind was filled with Ember's thoughts. " Yes, but I won't go. Can you go to your room now. I'm tired". Then she pouted her lips and hardly mocked Ember again. " Why? Was it because of that woman? You have to forget her and move on with Kate! She's just a lowly Omega who cannot give you an heir!". My ears hurt after she disrespected Ember. " What? You have to thank her instead why? Because she's doing too many households that even our maids don't work. I had no idea that she was the one doing all of the chores. I just found out after she left this house!". I scolded her. Despite what she did to the family, I still hurt her. I regret letting her leave and leaving her. Christina kneeled and asked for my forgiveness. "I'm sorry, Paris. I didn't mean to. But you have to accept this invitation, okay? Please, bring me too. It's my dream to meet the Lycan King", she begs. " I said I won't go!", I firmly told my brat sister. " You go. Just convey my deep apologies to the Lycan King".
