Chapter 297 The Disgrace Of The Shepherds
When the Vanderwoods taunted them, the Shepherds scowled, but they dared not respond. They eventually ran out of the hall in embarrassment. The Shepherds had used devious means to call off Charlie's engagement to Wynter, just as the reports indicated. Since they thought that only a well-educated and cultured heiress could be suitable for marriage into the Shepherd family, they had selected Yvette as Charlie's ideal wife. As a result, the Shepherd's future splendor was considered at the very beginning of the betrothal. The Shepherds, however, never anticipated that Charlie would be engaged to a fraudster or that the fraudster would have come from such a strong context.
Even worse, the Shepherds didn't find out about the latter until after the engagement was canceled. Needless to say, this did not sit well with any of them. They were fuming by the time they got out of the hall. Their nasty moods intensified when Charlie began to barrage his uncles with inane inquiries. "Why do you both, Uncle Jonah and Uncle Vance, seem so gloomy? "What are your thoughts? You are solely to blame for this! Jonah Shepherd rubbed his chest and roared. "Today, you made our whole family feel ashamed! After this, how should I display my face in public? Nelson, if you wish to remain the family's leader, watch out for your kid. You may always be replaced for me!
