Chapter 14 Apologize to Mr Liddell on Your Knees!
The halt didn't come from Roman.
Of course, he had intended to give Brody a piece of his mind, but someone else stopped the pompous scion before he could.
When Roman turned in the direction of the new voice, he smirked in response, gleeful at the fact that he didn't have to do the dirty work himself now.
Sure enough, an elderly man in a collarless suit, accompanied by a tall young woman in skinny jeans who appeared to be about 23, approached them.
"Did you call out to me, elderly man?" Brody yelled at the elderly man.
"Yes, I did," the elderly man in the collarless suit replied, his hands behind his back, exuding an air of arrogance.
"What the hell do you want from me?" Brody yelled angrily.
"I heard you insulting Mr. Liddell earlier. Now, immediately, apologize to him!" The elderly man demanded. "And do it on your knees!"
Apologize to Mr. Liddell on my knees?! Brody was bewildered.
"You, an old fart, want me to apologize to Mr. Liddell on my knees?! Who the f*ck is Mr. Liddell, and why should I apologize to him?!" Brody retorted coldly.
"He is Mr. Liddell," the elderly man said, pointing to Roman.
Following the elder's pointed finger, Brody flipped out, realizing he was pointing at Roman. He couldn't believe an elderly man with one foot already in the grave would demand that he, an affluent scion, apologize to a vagrant of a loser. To hell with that!
"Do you have a death wish, you old fart? Who the f*ck do you think you are?! Why should I apologize to him just because you say so? Screw you, you old b*stard! You kneel and apologize to me, or I'll kill you with one hand!" Brody, naturally arrogant and sharp-tongued, was incensed that the elderly man would ask him to kneel and apologize to Roman. He couldn't tolerate it and erupted in anger, hurling insults.
The old man in the collarless suit turned livid at Brody's insult, his eyes flashing with cold light. As the Executive Secretary of Riverport's Martial Arts Association and the Vice President of the TCM Society, he was highly respected by all. To be insulted by a young brat like Brody was infuriating.
"You… You insolent boy, do you know who I am? Do you have a death wish for insulting me?" the elderly man roared.
"I don't give a f*ck who you are! To me, you're just a cursed old fart with one foot already in the grave!" Brody shouted back.
"You wretched scoundrel, how dare you insult my master?! Do you even know who he is? He is the renowned Mr. Cornelius Hall!" the young woman shouted angrily, unable to hold back anymore.
Cornelius Hall? Brody paused for a moment, then sneered and cursed, "Who the hell is Cornelius Hall? Or Cornelius Ball, for that matter? I don't care! I'm worth over a billion, and I've never heard of any Cornelius Wall or Small or whatever! To me, he's just an old fool!"
Cornelius trembled with rage at Brody's words. His reputation was immense, yet the young brat didn't seem to know who he was.
In reality, Brody had heard of Cornelius' name from others but had never met him. Thus, for a moment, he couldn't recall who Cornelius was.
"You scoundrel! How dare you insult my master? I must teach you a lesson!" The young woman turned grimly as she suddenly charged toward Brody, who took a second to register the situation. Then, he burst into laughter. "Are you assaulting me, you b*tch?! I'll have you know that I've trained in Taekwondo—"
Bam!
Before Brody could finish his sentence, a swift kick landed on his abdomen. His body flipped backward and rolled on the ground several times.
"You b*tch, do you know who I am? My father is Giovanni Zito, the chairman of Echelon Group. My uncle works in the city government. How dare you hit me—"
Smack!
Again, the young woman didn't care what he had to say. She ground her foot into his face, making Brody howl in pain.
"You worthless scum, even your father would have to act subservient before my master. Who the hell do you think you are? If you can't remember who my master is, let me remind you. He is Cornelius Hall, the Executive Secretary of the Martial Arts Association and Vice President of the TCM Society, revered by thousands!"
"What? Mr. Hall? He's Mr. Hall?! I remember now!"
Buzz!
After being beaten and reminded by the girl, Brody finally recalled who Cornelius was.
The Cornelius Hall, a highly respected figure in Riverport, was a man known for his martial arts and also his remarkable medical skills. He was someone that wealthy businessmen and powerful officials sought to curry favor with. It was said that even the top city officials treated him as a distinguished guest, and he had dared to insult him…
Brody's mind went blank, and his body started trembling. He had insulted the famous Cornelius Hall! What would become of him now?!
Thud!
Trembling, Brody immediately knelt in front of Cornelius, pleading, "Mr. Hall, I didn't know it was you! I apologize for my offense. Please, Mr. Hall, you're magnanimous; just treat my words as nothing but bullsh*t. Please, don't be angry!"
But how could Cornelius not be upset?! He was almost entirely consumed by rage. He, Cornelius Hall, a figure revered by thousands in this city, had been humiliated by a young brat. Could he maintain his dignity? Of course not!
While it was infuriating that this kid had disrespected him, what really stoked his anger was the fact that the boy had insulted Mr. Liddell.
"Master, as is customary, when someone insults you, they either get their hand or leg broken. What do you think?" the young woman asked respectfully, looking at Cornelius.
Brody immediately trembled in fear and pleaded, "I'm really sorry, Mr. Hall! I really realized my mistake! Please forgive me!"
"You infuriating me is one thing, but insulting Mr. Liddell is something I cannot tolerate! Get on your knees and apologize to Mr. Liddell now!" Cornelius commanded coldly.
Brody was utterly dumbfounded. He couldn't help wondering what connection the city loser had with Cornelius that the elder would defend him so adamantly. This left Brody baffled and aggrieved.
"Didn't you hear me? Apologize!" Cornelius' face darkened as he shouted in anger.
Brody shuddered and quickly said, "Alright, alright! Mr. Hall, please don't be angry. I'll… I'll apologize!"
At that, he went up to Roman and muttered, "I'm sorry," with great reluctance.
