Colin's initial frustration at his mother cancelling her booking at Ritz Carlton quickly dissolved into gratitude as he watched her step in and take charge of his already pathetic household. He found himself enjoying her company despite his reservations and was only too grateful to have her calming presence around Alice, showering her with all the the love and devotion he dared not match.
