Chapter 6 A Greedy And Cunning Woman
“Shut up!” Phillip's anger flared. He had done his research on that woman named Elsa. She was far from being as simple as he had initially imagined.
However, his grandson was completely smitten by her, utterly disregarding his advice.
“There's no news on Francesca just today. She's more adept at playing hard to get than anyone else.” Colton's gaze darkened. “Who knows, by tomorrow, the Beckman family might start making demands.”
A sneer tugged at the corner of his mouth. She even drugged him. She might be hiding somewhere, afraid I might lose my temper.
He was certain that Francesca would show up at the mansion within three days.
He knew too well the greed of Francesca and the Beckman family.
“There's nothing left for us to discuss. If you can't find Fran, don't bother coming back.” Phillip dismissed him with a wave of his hand, driving him out of the study.
Before Colton closed the study door, he heard Phillip sigh. “Fran is a good child. It's not her fault she was born into such a family...”
Colton rubbed his temples. He had figured out the scheme Francesca was planning.
After having sex with me, she immediately went into hiding, presumably to avoid taking the contraceptive pill. Grandpa is anxious to know her whereabouts. By the time she resurfaces, who will dare to blame her?
What a greedy and cunning woman.
In a private room at Midnight Club, Colton was lounging casually on the couch. Elsa, now donned in a vibrant red, enticing dress, was comfortably snuggled against him.
Last night, Colton had been unreachable after he had gone over to Francesca's place. This incited a strong sense of unease in Elsa. She felt compelled to assert her claim over Colton in front of a group of friends that evening.
She was determined to make everyone know that she was Colton's true love.
Elsa was not only asserting her dominance, but she also wanted to bask in everyone's compliments.
“Did Elsa become even more beautiful? Indeed, women in love always seem to glow!”
“Elsa even won the Best Actress award this year. Now, she truly enjoys success in both love and her career.”
“I'm so jealous!”
Charles Leigh and Jeremy Ziegler, who were standing nearby, subtly moved closer to Colton. With a teasing smile, they asked, “Colton, seeing how close you and Elsa are, could it be that good news is on the horizon?”
Even though Colton was still technically married, everyone had already assumed it was only a matter of time before he got divorced. Ultimately, they believed he would end up marrying Elsa.
“Hmm?” Colton narrowed his eyes at him. “Are you worried about me?”
Charles said with a playful grin, “Don't you think the one from the Beckman family doesn't deserve you? Why should you settle for less?”
Colton snorted coldly, lifting his wine glass for a sip.
Indeed, that woman is not worthy of me.
However, at that moment, he wasn't considering his marriage to Elsa, especially since Francesca had just schemed against him not long ago. He wanted to teach her a lesson; otherwise, she and the Beckman family would become utterly lawless.
He had to make Francesca understand that this was the last time he would ever give her another opportunity to drug him.
The divorce was inevitable, but life wasn't going to be any easier for Francesca either.
Thinking about it, Colton couldn't help but smile. Everyone assumed he was smiling about his future with Elsa, but only Elsa knew very well that Colton was thinking about Francesca.
Only when dealing with matters related to Francesca would he reveal such an expression.
Even though he was clearly repulsed by Francesca, the smirk on his face was a mixture of mockery and indulgence.
It seemed as though he was indulging Francesca in carrying out those despicable deeds.
With these thoughts in mind, Elsa tightly clenched her hands.
At that moment, Colton received a call from Timothy Zimmerman, his assistant. Everyone instinctively quieted down, giving Colton the space to take the call.
“Mr. Zeller, we've lost track of Ms. Beckman...”
Hearing that, Colton furiously hurled his phone against the wall. His aura was so intense that everyone present dared not even breathe too heavily.
Very well! Francesca has once again made a fool out of me!
