The Palace of Westminster was one of the masterpieces of Gothic Revival architecture. The building had approximately a thousand and a hundred independent rooms, a hundred stairs and a corridor of four thousand and eight hundred meters long.
Located on the west bank of the Thames, it was close to other government buildings centered on Whitehall. Its clock tower in the northwest corner was the famous Big Ben.
