Edward’s eyes pried open to find himself in an unrecognisable place. For a moment, he wondered if he was in the life beyond—if he was finally dead and going to see his mother—but everything about this place felt the opposite of the tales he’d heard about the life beyond. First, he was on a cold, dirt-covered floor, and it made his body hurt as he twirled thereon. He glanced around and found thick silver bars at the entrance of the dirty room. He was in a cell, more like a dungeon, where criminals get locked up before getting tried by the elders, and then the Alpha King gives his final verdict on the royal criminals. He remembered visiting Xavier many times in this dungeon, as his brother’s rebellion was unending. However, he never saw himself getting locked up in the dungeon, much less sleeping there. Yet here he was on the floor in that very place.
