It was a puppy. Its fur was matted and dirty, so it was impossible to tell what breed it was and how old it was, but from the cries that it was making, it seemed to be a very young puppy. It appeared really weak, as if it was on its last breath. It had either been abandoned by its owner or had somehow gotten separated from its mother.
