With steady hands and focused eyes, Tessa gently moved the small grooming comb across Felix's fur. Every pass swept away more of the black mist, which clung stubbornly to the lion's body. However, once the mist faded to a certain level, it became much harder to dispel. She had to push herself harder, and by the end, she was lightheaded from the effort.
It wasn't exactly worth the cost, at least, not under normal circumstances. Had it been any other male, she would've stopped. But for Felix, she gave nothing less than her best.
