Sigmund clenched his jaw, seething with rage. Even though Jim had technically just saved him, he didn't feel the slightest shred of gratitude. Old grudges mixed with fresh humiliation, and he glared venomously at Jim. Then, with a cold, scornful laugh, he sneered, "Look at you, standing in front of her like some loyal mutt."
"She's just a commoner. A female with no mental power," he added bitterly. "Only a penniless mongrel like you would throw yourself at someone like that."
