Chapter 5 Exiled from the Blue Moon Pack
Nancy's POV:
The rain poured down and dark clouds loomed over the entire Blue Moon Pack.
I stood at the entrance of Alpha Manor, my belongings scattered at my feet—just a few things that Clerent had thrown out.
Raindrops the size of beans hit me, drenching me completely. I stood in the rain, a disheveled mess, watching Shane stand before me.
He was the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack.
And the destined mate I had just confirmed.
He was tall and imposing, with a perfectly sculpted physique and a face so striking that even goddesses would admire him.
I never imagined that someone as powerful as him could be my destined mate.
And yet, it happened, like a miracle.
Last night, after the Harvest Moon celebration, we were drawn to each other's scent and solidified our mate bond.
We shared a night that was both beautiful and passionate.
And today, in front of the entire pack, he declared my exile from the Blue Moon Pack.
Shane stood under the eaves, his dark eyes as deep as the night sky.
Then, he spoke coldly, uttering the cruelest words I had ever heard, "I, Shane Boston, Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack, reject you as my mate.
"I will not let the daughter of a murderer become Luna of the Blue Moon Pack."
In agony, I fell to the ground.
Shane took a step toward me, but he didn't bend down to show me any pity.
In my mind, I heard my wolf, Mia, whimpering, "Our destined mate just rejected us!"
Shane pulled out a bank card and a plane ticket from his pocket and tossed them at me, his voice devoid of warmth. "Nancy, you are exiled. Leave the Blue Moon Pack and never come back."
With that, he turned and walked inside.
I stared at his retreating figure as the cold rain made me shiver all over.
Once again, I was a rogue.
A werewolf without the protection of a pack.
Shane hated me—I knew that.
Because Natalie was the sister he cherished most.
And I was the daughter of the person who murdered her.
No matter what, he would never accept me as his mate.
The rain lashed at me, and my chest felt as if something had punched a hole through it, while waves of cold washed over me.
I didn't know how long I stood there before I finally forced myself to move.
Well then, as you wish.
"I, Nancy Gardner, reject Shane Boston as my mate."
I numbly severed all ties with this bond, and with the few belongings I had, I turned and left in a sorry state.
Shane's POV:
When Nancy rejected our mate bond, the pain was worse than any wound I had ever suffered on the battlefield.
I forced myself to walk away, swallowing the agony that threatened to consume me. I couldn't turn back—I wouldn't.
Finally, I reached my bedroom on the second floor.
But in the next moment, my wolf urged me to pull back the curtain just enough to see outside.
I was peeking at her.
Through the misty rain, I saw her frail silhouette grow smaller and smaller as she disappeared into the downpour.
My heart felt like it was being cut by a knife.
But why her?
I clutched my head in agony.
Why did it have to be her?
The murderer who killed Natalie turned out to be Nancy's parents?
Just last night, I was the happiest I had ever been, believing I had finally found the mate I had always dreamed of.
And today, that dream was shattered.
A murderer's daughter had no place in this pack.
And I could never allow someone like her to become my Luna.
Torn between love and hate, my fists tightened at my sides, until one finally crashed through the glass.
Clerent's POV:
I stood at the bedroom door, holding a cup of hot water, about to step inside.
But then, I saw this sight.
Alpha Shane was secretly watching that bitch walk away!
Was he really so reluctant to let her go?
Nancy—a nobody, as insignificant as an ant—what had she done to deserve him?
Last night, the one who should have been in Alpha Shane's bed was me!
I went to great lengths to get that potion from the witch—the one that could make werewolves go into heat. If Shane had slept with me, I would have secured my place as Luna of the Blue Moon Pack.
But that pathetic woman got to him first!
I never intended to get rid of her this soon ...
But fate had to interfere, letting her confirm the mate bond with Alpha Shane.
No one could take away what should be mine.
Not even Alpha Shane's destined mate.
The title of Luna belonged to me.
Nancy must die!
I turned away without hesitation, hiring a merciless rogue assassin.
