Chapter 6
After Lena finished eating, before leaving, she hesitated and asked, "Can you lend me some money first?"
Joanna took a deep breath and said, "The cufflinks you gave to Hayden last week cost 32,000 dollars, and now you're telling me you don't have any money?"
Lena scratched her cheek sheepishly and explained, "I borrowed money from someone to pay for hospital bills yesterday. Um, I'll repay you in the future."
Joanna transferred 1,600 dollars to Lena, patted her shoulder, and said, "Your family has been restricting your expenses for quite a while, and you like to save all your money to buy gifts for Hayden, and even please his relatives. Forget it, it's useless to say more. You don't have to return this money. If you don't have a place to stay tonight, you can continue to come here."
Lena felt touched.
Now that she had decided to work at the Reid Group, she needed to go back to her own home to find documents like her ID card.
When she arrived at the Dawson family's house, she felt a bit awkward and rang the doorbell at the entrance.
A young man's voice was heard from inside, "Who is it?"
When Randy opened the door and saw her, he instantly became angry.
"Lena, what's wrong with you? Didn't I tell you to make breakfast for me earlier? Why are you only coming back now? Hurry up and make me breakfast, I'm starving."
Lena watched as the handsome boy, who was about 1.83 meters tall. She calmly changed into house slippers at the entrance.
"Don't we have a maid at home?"
"The maid's cooking is not as delicious as yours. What's wrong with you? You have been doing this for so long and now you're suddenly complaining. Isn't it the responsibility to cook for your family? Even when you had a high fever, you would still cook for us. Mom would praise you, and you would be happy for the rest of the day."
Lena felt a tightness in her chest as she looked toward the sofa.
Leah, Margaret, and her father, Dave, were sitting on the sofa.
Seeing her return, Margaret first snorted coldly, "I thought you wouldn't come to make breakfast anymore. It seems like you can't pretend anymore. Hurry to the kitchen, your brother is starving to death. You really are a bad sister."
Leah sat demurely on the sofa and smiled when she heard the words.
"Lena, I want to eat stir-fried shrimp with broccoli. Please don't add too much salt, I'm afraid I'll get bloated. Hayden and I are going to go get our photos taken."
After speaking, she looked at Margaret and asked, "Mom and Dad, what do you guys want to eat?"
Margaret was instantly all smiles, and she lovingly patted Leah's head, "Leah, you are such a sensible girl."
Lena stood at the entrance, feeling amused.
She even saw the maid approaching her, handing her the apron, and reproachfully said, "Miss, you used to wake up at five o'clock in the morning to make breakfast. Why did you come back at seven o'clock today? Everyone was starving and waiting. Next time, if you come back late, remember to let us know in advance."
So, in everyone's eyes, she was nothing more than a laborer.
Lena didn't take the apron. She turned around and walked towards the stairs.
Everyone else was stunned, but Randy immediately stomped her foot and said, "Lena, what are you doing? I'm really hungry. First, apologize to Leah. You weren't here on her birthday yesterday! And then go cook!"
Margaret also spoke up, "Lena, your siblings love your cooking and you have also gotten used to cooking for them. Don't be a brat."
At this moment, Lena had already reached the staircase and smiled upon hearing the words.
Lena was stunningly beautiful. When she wasn't smiling, she looked cold and indifferent. Her skin was as fair as snow.
She was definitely one of the most beautiful women in Westfell. However, due to spending these years chasing after Hayden, she was often mocked by others.
"16,000 dollars for a meal. Who's paying?"
As soon as Lena spoke, she was met with silence.
Dave angrily threw the newspaper he held onto the coffee table, his face darkened as if he didn't recognize his own daughter.
"Outrageous! Where did you learn all this disgusting habit?"
Lena calmly flicked her hair and glanced at the four people.
"Why should I cook for you for free? I worked hard in the kitchen, and all Leah did was ask you what you wanted to eat. And you all think she's more sensible. If that's the case, let her make your meals."
She turned around to go upstairs, and Leah instantly burst into tears.
"Lena, what do you mean by this? It was you who wanted to cook by yourself in the first place, saying it was to make things up to me. I know ever since I came back five years ago, you couldn't stand me, always feeling like I took away your things. If you feel like that, I'll move out."
She lowered her head and wiped away her tears, looking as if she had suffered a great injustice.
Margaret was extremely heartbroken, and Randy quickly scolded Lena, "Lena, look at what you've done! Why are you always like this!"
Lena didn't feel like watching this show. She suppressed the pain and bitterness in her heart and forced a smile. "Alright, you can move out. Do you want me to pack your luggage for you?"
Leah seemed to not expect that she would say this, and her gaze turned even more aggrieved. "I knew that you have always thought this way. No matter what I do, it's useless, you just don't like me..."
"Why are you crying? Did I hit you or insult you? Tears really come so easily to you. You're such a bitch. You're a perfect match for scumbags like Hayden. Why don't you guys can get lost, and don't bother me anymore."
Leah's eyes welled up with tears as she looked at Lena in disbelief.
In the past, Lena would never have fought back like this, let alone speak ill of Hayden.
It seemed the accident had driven her crazy. The corners of Leah's mouth curved slightly. Perhaps this was for the best. She had long been sick of Lena's face, wishing she could destroy Lena. A trace of jealousy flashed through Leah's eyes.
"How can you say such things about Hayden..."
Lena didn't feel like getting involved with these people, so she went straight upstairs.
Margaret angrily caught up with her, "You have really gone too far. How can you speak like that!"
She tried to grab Lena's sleeve, but Lena pushed her away.
Margaret was stunned, and it took her several seconds to come back to her senses.
This daughter of hers used to be very obedient. She was always willing to do any work and would smile with joy at the slightest praise from her family.
Margaret felt a bit uncomfortable in her heart, "Are you feeling unwell?"
Lena climbed up the stairs. She asked the servant and found her room.
The room was very messy. There was even a piano and some other musical instruments placed inside.
She stepped forward and took a look, only to find that all the things were labeled with names, some were Leah's and some were Randy's.
So, was there no place in such a big villa to put musical instruments that they must be placed in her bedroom?
Did they take her bedroom for a storage room?
